You know, since their goal is to make sure history as they know it happens, what if Suki, as Lorna's sire, commands her to return to school until she manages to live her "perfect senior year", before erasing her memory of who sired her? And all this time Lorna has been crying inside, because she doesn't want to go back to high school or be a cheerleader, but she is forced to do so due to an unbreakable compulsion?

And when Suki comes back to her present, next time she meets Lorna she says "by the way, Lori, you are free now, you no longer have to pursue your 'perfect year' anymore...".

During the fight between the VC and the PMS, when Lori was about to kill Steph, the latter told Heather to go away, and Heather felt as if she were being physically pushed away because that was a command from her sire.

Also, Lori commanded all her progeny to come to her, and she had them take her surname.

A sire can give orders to her progeny, and said orders last a long time (Lori's offspring keep using her surname a long time after that).

I always took that scene where she was talking to Heather as a more forceful get the hell out now rather then a command. As for calling her progeny....she may be using a fancy term for sending out emails or other methods of invitation after all if someone you respected asked you to come to an event wouldn't you?

Look at Heather: she seems to be resisting the push of a gale. She's being physically pushed away.

As for the name change...Zoe explicitly says that they were "commanded", not "called" or "asked". And knowing Zoe and Lesley, I somewhat doubt they would change their surnames just because of a whim of Lori unless forced to do so; they respect her, but not so much as to follow her every whim even centuries after last watching her.
