Whatchoo even doon up here... Grasshopper. :P

;)

And to get back on topic a bit...

Dinosaurs!!!!

And I don't mean the TV show, which I barely know. I mean the real ones. I was totally like Calvin & Hobbes. I soaked up dino knowledge when I was but a wee one. I was telling people I wanted to be a paleontologist who did not even know the term.

And unless you're a fan of trilobites, Ediacaran biota or blue-green algae, it hardly gets more old-school than dinosaurs. ;)

Said the sprite who's months away from even his first Cave fanfic. :P

Each to his own arena, Ithilion... I concede there are areas where you beat me fair and square (you know what I mean ;) ), but...

More old school: In the '80s, I read lots of Garfield (back when it was still good), Peanuts and of course Calvin & Hobbes!! Though admittedly, I was already a young teenager when I learned of the latter... The undoubtedly greatest comic strip evar!

Okay, this is sort of a multi-cross thread issue... so I'll respond where it was first brought up. ;) Me and all my RPing friends used to play this old C64 game, Phantasie. Very often, when a combat encounter happens, we'll immitate the noise the game used to make when it happened in the game. And invariably, someone will follow that with making the noise for striking with a weapon. :))

EDIT: and cause i hate not adding something new... who remembers Captain Harlock?
Captain harlock isnt old school! he's eternal awesomeness!

Loved his appearance in that movie about the cosmic train [something 696 or the other? damnit cant remember]

Loved everything that had him.

****

I watched quite a lot of old school anime, but cant remember all the names. Stuff like robotech, ninja robots, ninku and Saber Rider i do remember. oh and Ghostsweeper Mikami.

a whole load i just cant remember the names off. like one mecha type with transformation jet and bike mecha suits. and the enemies in crab mecha. [and an alien princess that they're after who has black blood]

And other stuff. Like He man, and those other peer cartoons of his.

Anyone remember or know of The Centurions? Man and machine, POWER EXTREME.

oh and who can forget Thundercats and their leaders large proclamations about prostitution to call his friends?

Hehe when I was little I totally loved dinosaurs. We went to the Royal Tyrell museum when I was like three or four, and everyone there thought I was so cute... the little girl in the pink dress who could explain what a pacicephalosaurus (sp?) was.

I have a series of children's books that feature a dinosaur each. Kind of like a short "day in the life of" series. I read those in preschool when I was supposed to be taking a nap.

My favorite was on the deinonychosaur. And I could eve pronounce it too. They were great for learning phonics (I learned how to read before I learned phonics... my teacher in Kindergarten thought that would be problematic, so she had me take home a phonics book. I read and retained the whole thing in two days. I ended up teaching a lot of my friends how to read in kindergarten and first grade.
