its hard to put into words exactly, we can remember things being painful and our associations with the experience. Atleast in most cases. Severe trauma and particularly burdensome experiences can leave imprints on us that make our minds behave in odd ways. Some people report re-experiencing the pain of a wound when facing PTSD triggers or heavy stress making people experience sensations of pain from old wounds though there is nothing actually wrong or damaged in said area.

its my experience that these findings about the "average" experience are less common than they allow others to assume.

My sensation of pain tends to be more about other symptoms, like automatic responses as I don't actually feel the pain properly most of the time. I am, however, a very interesting flower ;)

Well, Tenjen, a lot of people on the Spectrum tend to process and experience pain very differently. I've had not-exactly major surgeries three times in my life. They all required putting me out. I woke up in pretty much no pain. I don't know, maybe a thyroidectomy is a major surgery. Still, I felt almost no pain, but the pain of getting a needle stuck into my arm is actually worse and lingers longer than having surgery.

On the other side of things...I'm adopting two kittens. They shouldn't be separated since they are the last of their litter.

Likely names are Ruth and Jane (for Miss Fisher's adopted daughters), Bert and Cec for Miss Fisher's Communist friends and co-conspirators or Amy and Rory from Doctor Who. Maybe 'Liza and Alice for Miss Fisher's sister and effective sister-in-law since they're siblings of my mother's cat who we named for Miss Fisher :)

Artemisia, I love Friday Fisher. I don't even watch murder mysteries normally, but I love watching her.
(I hope we have the same character in mind.) :)

After my great-great-aunt died, my dad bought her disaster of a house in hopes of finding some family treasures- heirlooms and stuff. She had been a long-time hoarder that probably could have been on Buried Alive so there was all sorts of stuff there from garbage to possessions that belonged to her grandfather (so late 1800s-ish). My dad will probably end up spending an entire year or more of simply going through possessions before he'll be able to decide if it would be better to use the place for storage or gutting almost all of it for it to be livable in again.

One thing she has is a lot of books and there's a great deal of them from the '40s and '50s. Saturday night, he brought home Alfred Hitchcock Presents: My Favorites in Suspense. It's a first edition printed in 1959. He thought he might get some money out of it but a Google search showed it would be worth $20 at the most so he gave it to me along with a Japanese fan that was made before there were barcodes. That's all we can tell about the age of the fan. Sometime before barcodes. I'm still reading the last anthology of Sherlock Holmes stories but after I'm done with that, I might give it a read. I'm free to look through any and all books she had so when I can go in there without feeling like I should get a tetanus shot, I'll probably go through them.

Been away for a while, and I apologize for any drama I caused before. I've been having a bad time of it lately.

Three weeks ago, I lost my job of 11-plus years.

A little more than a week ago, I got a bad cold, which I'm just getting back to normal from.

Sunday night, I tried to comfort the family dog of 16 years as he took his final breaths.

This is the lowest I've been in a long time.

I'm pretty sure we are :) I've read the books as well, which are a bit different and include Miss Fisher's two adoptive daughters (Jane is the only one in the series. She adopted Ruth from the same circumstances); Mrs Butler is still alive; Elizabeth McMillan doesn't show up as much until the later books, but Miss Fisher has a sister named Eliza who shows up in one of the later books while running away from a man that their father wants her to marry. By the end of the book we find out that the reason she ran away from home had followed her to Australia and is named Alice :) The two take up together and help the poor a lot in the later books :)

Count...I'm so sorry to hear things have been awful. Please feel well.
