Re: What's for dinner/supper/tea tonight?
I love just making crap up as I go... If it sounds like a good combination, I give it a try! Most of the time things turn out well. Sometimes... Not so much... And the latter are the ones I end up writing down, so I can never seem to make the really good stuff more than once :/

I was just wondering. I've heard there are two types of cooks: the kind who invent things and the kind who are very methodical.

I never use recipes, and rarely make the same dish twice, I just check what I have in the fridge, throw whatever I think fits together in the pan and go from there

Likewise. Cooking is fun, so it should be all about experimentation. If it works, eat it. If it doesn't...eat it and complain, and make a note to try something different next time!Nibler wrote:I never use recipes, and rarely make the same dish twice, I just check what I have in the fridge, throw whatever I think fits together in the pan and go from there

Drinking tonight:P.
Last night:
Currryed extra-spicy boiled&fried rice with peas and slightly spicy steak.
Instant chocolate pudding with bits of oranges for taste.
Usually I just eat instant ramen though.
Also, although i hate mustard, Mustard&pepper on bread is the poor student's breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I'm rural, so babies aren't in high demand, ergo they don't stock them. Boo for rural.Swayambhu wrote:Babies.
You can be methodical and inventive too, you know. If you know what can go with what, you can create delectables without fear of making shit. One of the perks of being trained in the Culinary Arts (like the head chef at one of my summer jobs) is he can invent his own dishes and know they'll be awesome.cyanide_sweet wrote:MS: That sounds... interesting

I had a delicious chicken pasta-bake, with brownies for dessert.

Pigs in a blanket! ^^
(which is not nearly as disgusting as it sounds, in case anyone is thinking "wtf??" ) It's hot dogs and cheese wrapped in croissant-type biscuits...you have to unroll the dough into little triangles, put the hot dogs and cheese in, and then roll them up individually and cook them. I normally don't care for hot dogs, but I like these

Re: What's for dinner/supper/tea tonight?
Excepting the cheese part (which sounds even nommier) my mom always made these (under the name "piggies in a blanket") for my birthday parties when I was little. They were a great hit, and became synonymous with my birthday parties.
Good times.
I shall now go for some ham sandwiches with tomatoes, olives and light herb curd... And oranges. Trying to live healthy, here...

I'm tired and grumpy. I think I'll just make a stew, which is easy...

These days when I think of burritos, I think of the travesties my housemate makes with refried beans and sweet chilli sauce.
