1) Yes, Tom Petty died last night. He suffered a heart attack and was revived for a short period of time, but later died. And to think, "Mary Jane's Last Dance" came up on my iPod yesterday.

2)Among the dead in the Las Vegas shooting was a Vermonter. Right now, mostly I'm furious about the whole thing.

In a small bit of good news, at least for me, gravitational waves seem to really be real.

I think most of us are tired in reference to Vegas. It just... keeps happening.

I am a bit surprised that no one's commented on Germany legalizing same sex marriage.

Yiraheerai, I for one, am very happy about Germany's legalization of same-sex marriage. It's another link in the chain of progress. :-)

Huh? Ah, yes, I saw something small on a German site a few days back.

I guess it's because this was announced months ago, but officially became law only on October 1st? So it's not like it was a suprise.

Cause it was mostly not a big step. There has been already the possibility to make a legal sam sex relationship regards to the law.
It was short for some things short compared to a "real" marriage, like it was not as easy to adopt children and some other stuff.
So it was more a step to bring both sort of relationships to the same level for some laws and stuff and now its legal to call it a marriage instead of legal-same-sex-relationship. :)
Be creative, invent a perversion.

So, yeah, astronomical discovery of the century, unprecedented follow-up campaign, paper with 35% of the entire community in the author list, like 60 papers already on today's arXiv listing...

Now Trump.

Welp, at least made it on to to three of those papers...

EDIT: It was actually 76!!!

Hey, Don, I know how important it is for someone in academia to get their name on something published, so congrats on that :)

Also...with regards to predatory men in Hollywood, Carrie Fisher was not messing around.
