Here's a thought on Girls und Panzer. With their first two matches, Saunders and the 'British' team, they came out on friendly terms with both teams who seemed to have a bit of respect for our heroines. Miho's old school, Black Forest Peak, seems to have a 'winning above all else' that might be seen as off putting to people like those teams, and if they heard the story of Miho's 'disgrace' at Black Forest, may respect her more. I am fully expecting that the climax of the show/tourney will be Miho facing her sister, with a clash of ideologies being their central theme. But part of me wonders if some of Miho's former opponents might come to her aide in the final battle, either through advice/information, or maybe directly by loaning tanks (with or without crews). The grand moral being that friendship and allies are more effective than a 'victory or else' attitude.

Just my ruminations.

Well, right there at the end of episode 7, it looked very much like they found themselves a Tiger. That should even the odds a bit when they get it running. Looked like they found an L/48 for the PzKpfw IV, too. That will definitely help as well. What I wonder about, is if Miho and company will trade up to the Tiger or let the Class Prez have that and stick with the PzKpfw IV.

Rumors about upcoming Girls und Panzer events: Looks like the two tanks found in 7 are being given to new crews instead of replacing the existing tanks. The Tiger will go to the three seen in the opening sequence, the one including eyepatch girl, called Tapir Team. The B1 Bis will be the Discipline Team, including Mako's 'nemesis', 'Sadoko'.

Girls und Panzer 8 is out on Animeflavor. We finally get the reason why the school council is so hung up on winning, and we meet a school president that make's the hero school's look tall... but is noticeably less laid back.

Girls und Panzer ep. 8 is out.

In which the girls have their semi-final match againt Pravda and the cat is finally out of the bag on the pending fate of the school. And it seems Miho has been disowned by her family at the Black Forest Peak Academy.

Pravda being Soviet based has put up a strong squad. At least 11 T-34, 2 T-34-85, a KV-2 with what appears to be M-10 Howitzer, and an IS-2. An with that Napoleon complex Katyusha has, she should be commanding the French. :p This does make me wonder why they did field that Tiger though. Couldn't get it in running order in time or something else.

Got to admit, the reveal at the end wasn't wholely surprising, and fits with many anime standard tropes. Kinda expecting the Tiger to show up next episode in the middle of the battle.

Or more likely when Miho has to go up against her sister and Black Forest Peak. I don't think they can add in a tank in the middle of the battle like that if it wasn't listed in the Order of Battle to begin with.

Kinda admit that I wish we could see a bit more out of Aya... she's too cute for words:

And I keep seeing this pic come up when I punch Girls und Panzer in Tumblr, but have no clue who she is: (Edit: Nevermind, she's the Saunder's captain.)

Edit to add:
And I thought this was interesting: What appears to be the animator's reference for some of the tank interior shots. I've heard a lot of complements on the details on the tanks and such in here, though I got to admit, they do go a tad faster than their real-life counterparts. The Russian KV-2, for example, was known to be very slow and the turret so heavy that it had trouble rotating it when not on level ground. Most got used as movable forts rather than tanks. Still thoroughly satisfying to my inner armor geek.

Oh lord, just ran across a naughty piece of fanart involving the new enemy captain and her second. Nothing 'showing', but it doesn't need to be shown... :ymdevil:

A quick clip of the Katyusha song scene from Ep 8.

And just for giggles:

Just had another bit of speculation:

Was thinking on the mysterious 3 from the opening credits whom I don't remember seeing in the background or anything yet. I mean, 'Sodoko' got introduced back in episode 2. But the pose they are in suddenly had me hearing in my mind the teacher saying "lets welcome our new transfer students." So, here's my wild idea. The three of them are from Black Forest Mountain, where Miho was and her sister is. They in effect defected, either due to badmouthing they heard about Miho from some back there, or maybe even were the crew of the tank that fell in the water. This would give the team a sudden advantage in that they would be an experienced crew, and given that Black Forest uses German tanks, would likely make them familiar with that Tiger that may be about to unveiled.

As before, just my wild speculation.

I really enjoyed that little Katyusha song in this last episode. Especially since the Soviets are the only ones who actually used women in front line combat during WWII.
