Something like six years or so ago, I complained loudly that there would be a TV adaptation of Game of Thrones. Impossible! I thought.

Thank you, HBO, for proving me wrong. :)

They're making a TV adaptation of Wheel of Time??? :-o Impossible!

DA, it's funny that I actually know a bit concerning the problems the Wheel of Time series had being developed. Even before Robert Jordan passed, he'd sold off the rights to his series to develop either a show or movie that eventually found its way into the hands of Universal Pictures. But, the rights were set to return to Jordan's estate if nothing had been aired by February 11th of 2015. Well, at 1:30 in the morning on February 11th on FXX channel there was a paid program that aired entitled only "Winter Dragon" that was a word-for-word enactment of the Wheel of Time prologue that didn't have a single advertisement prior to airing. It was horrible, even digging up Billy Zane for one of the two roles involved. It was essentially Universal observing the obligations of keeping the rights without sinking any significant money into a project that wasn't near ready. However, on April 29th if this year it was revealed that the legal issues concerning ownership to the rights were finally resolved... that's why you're hearing about the development of a TV series. Isn't life fun when you get petty entertainment companies involved?

I'm still waiting for Lionsgate to produce something for Patrick Rothfuss' "Kingkiller Chronicle" since they bought the rights to produce a TV show, movies, and a video game. I last heard of that happening on October 1st of 2015, and not a peep since. Dammit, I either need a show or a book, Rothfuss! It's been over five years since your last book! :p

This sort of thing has happened rather more than one might think.

I didn't think this fit into the "Funny Pictures" thread, and since it's about a TV show I thought I'd share this here. A while back there was this great mini-series on Cartoon Network called "Over the Garden Wall", and I really enjoyed it. It's my new tradition that come October I watch it from beginning to end. Well, recently the Tumblr artist Olivia Joy Taylor put out an open request for suggestion of what to draw, so I threw out that if she was familiar with it to draw any of the characters from Over the Garden Wall. Earlier today, she posted a sketch she did of the main character Wirt, because of my suggestion.
:D
