Happy New Year!

Angel Amber is surprisingly rational - not that Amber can't be rational, it is simply surprisingly Dillon's mind can conjure up a rational argument... even if it seems like he will ignore it.
Perhaps by being his own the devil on his shoulder, it shows that some part of Dillon knows that his usual response to things is normally wrong?
Ruby being a demonic angel/angelic demon is quite amusing, even if it distracts from the simple dichotomy to which Dillon is already having trouble paying equal attention.

Oooo I like this insight. Honestly I definitely expected Dillon to have more troubles maturing and getting better than Gary. Dillon has always been more impulsive AND prone to dramatics, not a good combination if you're trying to grow up lmao. Still love him, just hoping he somehow manages to reign it all in...come on Dillon almost there.......listen to Amber...

Now HE'S a character that could benefit from Peggy :)

Also yikes that his Inner Ruby is yaoi-obsessed to that point hahahaha geez! Angel/Demon!Ruby seems more like Zii here!

Shoulder angels and devils always look like their owners, in every fiction in which they appear. Including this universe. Zii has them, and they look like her. Didi has them and they look like her too, aside from the angel version standing as high as a three story office building.

So really what's more interesting is that Dillion's shoulder angel *doesn't* look like him. It seems to imply that before he met Amber he didn't have one at all.

Or we're reading too much into this, per usual.

So who's looking forward to Ma3 returning some time this month? I'm betting on Ma3 returning on the 31st.

As for the new SDB, I would say this might lead to major character development for Dillon but maybe not.

The complicated thing here is that Amber was always fairly useless as a moral advisor for Dillon. Back in the Ma3 days she showed him how to screw Nathan over amorally to get the apartment, her first ever appearance in SDB had her saying “Dillon don’t ever change”... She’s a friend, but an indulgent friend who thinks like Dillon himself. The reason why SDB, even as a comic about Dillon, needed Ruby, was that she brought a different point of view, and wasn’t afraid to express it — which Dillon needed to grow as a character. (These comics are all about needing friends to push us into character growth, even if they are flawed people themselves.)

Which meant that I was startled when I read panel 1 of this strip; Dillon’s conscience isn’t Amber, it’s Ruby. (Red for stop, not amber for ready-to-go.) But, of course, it made perfect sense in its way, because Ruby, for all her integrity, does have her own little foibles regarding gay sex. So the strip depended on that implausibility.

And Dillon’s source of error is his own nature in this case — though it’s also Ruby, to an extent. In other circumstances, it might be Matt, or Nathan, or maybe even Zii. But anyhow, he really should just be walking up to Jerzy and the other guy and seeing what ensues. Spying on people is never a very moral move.

Just wanted to say that I always enjoy the Angel/Devil-shoulder chats. The comic series started with them being not uncommon, then they just evaporated. I for one am glad they have returned. It is a cliche storytelling tool, but whatever. Personal taste.

I lol'd at Ruby being super fujoshi. Bad avatar to ask guy-guy advice from. I don't see an issue with Amber being 'angelic' for Dillon, in this moment. I wouldn't say Amber would normally win a Miss Sensibility award, but when dealing with interpersonal matters I think she has a good head for such things. Plus, Dillon being the devil in this instance just shows how wicked his natural inclinations can be. I guess I can't blame him, after being cheated on so many times by Matt; Dillon has become (even more?) jaded/superstitious. But then, he kept coming back to creeps like Matt so...

But yes, Dillon should approach Jerzy and mystery dude. Let's get it over with; rip the bandaid off already. Let the wound heal. The more Dillon picks at it (his love life, or whatever passes for it) the more it won't heal.

As to Ma3 proper. Yes please. The sooner the better. I'll need to pop more popcorn for what drama awaits Gary, Zii, Didi, and Peggy. The batch I had made at Peggy's cliffhanger is super stale now.

I agree and let's hope we don't have to wait until the 31st. And I'm still hoping they bring Kiley back during the final arc even if it is to show that Matt simply cannot stay faithful to anyone not even to Yuki.

When a porn star is your shoulder angel, you know things are getting south.

Retired porn star. She had the common sense to not let it control her, and the desire to be something more than fap material.

Plus her body is heavenly. Maybe I'll go to hell for saying that. But we're talking about Amber here, not me. :p

Ruby is an angel/demon hybrid? Where have I seen that before?

To be fair, there are some goings-on in SDB that could backwash into Ma3. Mostly advice and/or cameos, to help conclude the spin-off series before the main strip also sunsets. There are some readers who just want some satisfactory conclusion to the whole shebang. While Ma3 is my preferred strip, I want to have SDB finish well (or well enough) so that there are no regrets or reasons to return.

Would I like the creative team to keep all the strips running as strong/regular as in the past for another ten years? You bet! But life goes on.

I'd actually be interested in suggestions from other readers of the Ma3 serieses as to what webcomics they will be reading to fill the void? In a PM probably, or well after Ma3's denouement. Manners and all that. It just feels awkward talking about future webcomics when this one isn't finished. It's like discussing vacation plans for after your grandmother's funeral, and she's still in the room alive and kicking.

Okay, I don't think Shoulder Ruby is an angel/devil hybrid. She's just a horny angel.
