...well, that's probably TMI. Kind of a tonal shift from the question to the response, though.

Well, can't deny the erotic power of the first panel, nor the passion of the second; the coupling may be unpleasant and one-sided (to me, anyways) but the aforementioned sexiness is damn palpable.
Somewhat amusing embarrassment in panel 3, and hilarious look on Lynn's face in panel 4 as she realises her BS is about to cause consequences for once - seriously, "the only girl" for her? Despite the sexual chemistry, that line is hollow, so it will be interesting to see how she will try to worm her way out of a commitment she unwittingly made (but, come on, she was using such emphatic if trite rhetoric about being a "prince," realising how impressionable Maura is, although perhaps underestimating the level).

Credit to Maura's mother for being super chill - perhaps she is a little slow like her daughter, but she sounds like she's quick to accept a dramatic shift in Maura's preferences because happiness first?

Nice to know Maura has a supportive mom. Though with how close Maura was with Tess growing up, i think Maura's mom will be more surprised that it's not Tess.

Points to Maura for being more open minded and healthier mindset than, let's say, Sonya.

we need to keep Maura away from Sonya. the combined density of those two is well beyond the point to collapse into a singularity
Pointless arguing is one of the three pillars upon which the Internet is built. The other two are of course cat pictures and porn.

Aaand one of the few parents we've had any sign of in this comic turns out to be broad-minded enough to survive being, well, the parent of an Ma3 character. One wonders how many other calls she's had from her daughter boasting about her sex life. (And to answer a comment on the preceding strip -- it appears that Maura's mother is of the "let her learn by making her own mistakes" school of parenting.) Meanwhile, if Lynn has as much sense as we think, she'll be wondering quite what she's got herself into her. Whether her "you're the only one for me" line is entirely sincere or just predatory bullshit, she's now found herself sticking it in the (mildly) crazy.

Sonya's block on the idea of being a lesbian may originally have indicated unhealthy close-mindedness, but let's face it, it's just devolved to a silly joke now. Sonya quite cheerfully bangs women as well as men, isn't ashamed of it, and doesn't try to hide it. All she seems to have is a peculiar block on the word "lesbian", which presumably just means that she doesn't want to feel obliged to wear dungarees and a mullet.

(And now I want to commission Giz to do a picture of Sonya rocking dungarees and a mullet.)

But, dense as they seem, you don't want to underestimate either of them. Sonya has demonstrated a hell of a lot of low cunning and perfect timing over the comic's run, and Maura can out-fight DiDi when sufficiently motivated. They don't have the highest IQs in the setting, but they're both slightly more than idiot bimbos.

Anyhow -- I wasn't really expecting the comic to stay with these two for even this long; the oh-so-tragically-confused DiDi has been left hanging, after all. I guess that Giz and Dave couldn't handle writing idiot emotional trauma for too long, and had to dip away into a more comedic plot strand for at least a few frames. But as both strands are about the characters about whom I care least in the setting, I do find myself drumming my fingers a bit right now.

(And while I try never to make the stupid mistake of assuming that my tastes are universal or even common, I note that the discussion boards have had relatively little commentary on these recent strips.)

Yeah, I was thinking about how Maura and Sonya are kind of paralleling - though, to what degree is uncertain since it is the very beginning of Maura's sudden lesbian turn.

Sonya seems to be bi, but leaning more towards lesbian; it isn't simply the *starstuck* factor, as she had as much sex with Yuki, if not more than, when she was with her idol, Zii. Except, Sonya, for whatever reason, had (maybe still has) utter denial about being gay, despite all evidence.
Maura was portrayed as entirely straight as she was immune to the DiDi effect and had, well, a hetereo-life partnership with Tess, with them both salivating over muscular men. Yet, with Maura's version of Zii, Lynn, who is like the rocker - charismatic, sexually prolific and skilled - Maura is instantly willing to accept that she could be a lesbian due to her being starstruck and Lynn's technical prowess.
Both were fooled, arguably manipulated, into lesbian hook ups, which they found pleasurable, thus seek to continue hooking up with their idols - Sonya shows cunning as she uses often underhanded schemes, while Maura - the blunt object that is her mind - just phones her mother to announce a "girlfriend" (the latter not to *trap* Lynn, but rather, Maura is so enraptured by the prince shtick that she thinks Lynn was being honest, rather than... poetic).

Sonya was dense for being in denial about even "qualifying" as gay, in spite of all evidence to the contrary, which makes her a conundrum as she gradually developed a knack for plots (even if most were poorly thought up, until luck factors in); whereas Maura isn't sure but is almost convinced she is gay from an isolated if couple day ongoing event.
Antimatter and matter, really; not quite a singularity, but definitely a cataclysm if their respective densities collide. :))

/facepalm

Oh dear. What has Lynn gotten herself into? Rhetorical, really, if one considers the romantic kissing and sex Maura spoke to her mother about. Lynn seemed to prefer having her lovers be more subdued, perhaps even secretive, considering her wrestling alter-ego. At least, that is the general vibe I got from the time she visited her other lover... dressing up incognito to keep fans from possibly noticing her as well.

As to the lower forum post count, I think that there is less reader investment with these characters. However, their interactions will somewhat influence Didi and perhaps snowball into Tess and then into Zii because of how it impacts Didi. I don't think Roxie would give a green goddammit, unless she idolized Lynn/Annie Conda (honestly I can't remember if she does). TBH, I am only really interested in how Tess handles the information. Didi's world is turned on its side now, regardless of how much boinking Lynn & Maura are doing. Getting back to the main characters would help, especially Zii, since she has been left out to dry for a while now.

As to Lynn's kink, whatever it is, I am wondering if she has even indulged in it with Maura... perhaps for fear of driving her away? Or perhaps it is relatively vanilla? Or, perhaps she has explored it with Maura but since Maura has no real clue about lesbian sex she assumes her kink is the normal for her newfound potential lesbian paradigm? Or the kink could just have been a throwaway gag, which saddens me if that is the case; it was one of the things that intrigued me most about Lynn.

Agreed. And speaking of I wonder what her reaction will be.

Except that, for all practical purposes, she doesn’t deny being bi at all, really. She keeps having sex with women, she doesn’t make any serious attempt to keep it a secret, and she shows no signs of shame or confusion on the subject. (Well, she was a little concerned that someone might have told Angel about her lesbian shenanigans. But she didn’t really sweat it.)

She just has that idiotic catchphrase. And I’m pretty sure that the only reason she’s still got that is because the writers are convinced that we all roll on the floor, helpless with laughter, whenever she says it. But if anyone insists on taking it seriously, I guess that one can imagine it’s some last, vestigial bit of nominal conventionality that has stuck to her like an embarrassing stain.

Not instantly, actually. It took her a day or two to come around, remember. At the moment, it looks like single-target sexuality, possibly evolving into the idea that she’s attracted to the person, not the gender. And she keeps commenting on Lynn’s more conventionally-masculine features, so it’s entirely possible that, long term, the people she’s attracted to will mostly be guys. It’s just that making the occasional exception won’t worry her.

I read that as just her being famous enough that being noticed visiting her lover could lead to attention from random fans that’d be irritating and inconvenient for her and embarrassing for her lover. No big fetish, just a basic sense of privacy.
I am only really interested in how Tess handles the information.
My guess is still “roll her eyes, snark about Maura’s uncontrollable fangirling, and getback to trying to get into Damien’s pants”. Actually, Damien might have something interesting to say here, given that he apparently knows Lynn of old.

Given that it was only mentioned the once, I very much suspect that it’s now been forgotten. My vague guess is that, if anything, Lynn just gets very vigorously physical in bed, so finding a lover as robust as DiDi — or able to defeat DiDi hand-to-hand — seemed like a good idea. But it’s probably a dead topic now.

I kind of wonder what the norm in Ma3 Quebec is, actually. I mean, if parents tend to be conventional and judgemental, there are going to be an awful lot of estranged families.

My advice here, Lynn, is to surreptitiously button your shirt and slowly back out of the room; don't make eye contact; change your name and leave the country.

I agree, it's just a running gag (or an overly long gag)... But I like to over-analyze just for fun, and my hypothesis is similar to yours: Sonya could be having the same problem Didi had when she received Zii's kiss at the comic book store...

She thought for a minute she was a lesbian and she went right into the stereotype... Probably Sonya thinks the same...
