You know what. While Peggy is great girlfriend for Gary... Didi NEEDS someone like Peggy to correct her thoughtless way. So, I ship it.

Yes, I was completely unfased by actual spy shootout. ^^;

It has been quite some time since DiDi failed to get her way, so I had forgotten how petulant she is in defeat. It is almost, not quite, but almost hilarious how childish she is in regards to something so mature.

So, 100% clear that Peggy and Bianca used to date (which seems like a bit of a retcon, as it seemed to be suggested that Peggy occasionally dabbled in sapphic experiences in college, but not as *actual* relationships, but I digress); it makes their coyness feel stranger in hindsight - I don't expect their conversations to be like, "I enjoyed when we had sex," yet the prevalence of innuendo seemed more for the benefit of the unknown audience, as opposed to natural dialogue.
That spy thriller plot was completely out of left field, so much so that I'm not sure if it is clever or inane... I'm leaning on the latter, unless there was some ingenious foreshadowing that I didn't notice, because otherwise it is rather jarring shift in not only tone, but also genre.
I've seen enough anime to have seen blood used as censorship... Still appears aptly icky, regardless. Aha.

A rather mundane union of the separate plot threads, although the simplicity works for convenience and pacing, overall. Unlike the mewling DiDi, it was interesting to see Peggy's vastly opposing emotions - panic in 2, righteous fury in the flashback of 3, and classic Peggy expression of strongly conflicting emotions, with a sense of humour at the absurdity of her situation.
While Peggy is perceptive, it seems in spite of her adrenaline rush and panic, she realises the amusing aspect of how one doesn't need to be perceptive to pick up on what *worries* the one dimensional DiDi (she may have shown depth before, but since she has been predominantly a single note of tedium, one dimensional is how DiDi seems by default.)
Bianca looked scarily mad.... I can't quite accept that spy thriller element popping up in the 11th hour of the series, it is like "jumping the shark" on steroids (more in the sense of something extreme occurring out of place, rather than a bizarre gimmick to boost ratings).

Since Peggy and DiDi cross paths on their way home, perhaps they both will see Gary and Zii's moment of intimacy? Even though Zii put a stop to it, she has been too consistently shown as a slave to her base instincts, so may have continued the kiss despite her newfound sense of morality. I doubt Peggy will be offended, or even anything for the short term, as being in an action movie in reality would numb just about anyone; DiDi seems likely to either overreact, or she will assume that Zii is using her side of the "open relationship," and in the latter case, could be so unfazed that Zii will finally realise how feeble their *relationship* has been.

"No, no, we are NOT switching genres in the last volume!"

Hmm. As ever, Peggy has DiDi's number, thanks very much.

The question is, did Peggy actually save that assassin's life, and then bug out when she was sure he was going to survive and she heard the sirens approaching (because she didn't want to get mixed up in things), or did the guy die and Peggy then depart because she really didn't want to get involved and she was worried that the next arrival would be more hitmen? Either way sounds unwise -- that room will have an orgy of evidence pointing to her presence, if anyone at all picks up on her identity. She'd really be best off heading to the police station right now. But I suspect that the actual answer is "the writers haven't thought that deeply about the details and don't give a shit, because they just wanted a wacky reason for Peggy's date to fail and/or a reason for her to have tension relief sex with someone".

So DiDi and Peggy are now scheduled to walk in on Zii and Gary doing ... whatever this wrap-up plot demands, really. It's all getting a bit mechanical. One obvious possibility is that Peggy convinces DiDi to go back to Zii, then reflects that maybe she ought to take Gary more seriously, and then the pair of them discover Gary and Zii apparently up to something (possibly just an innocent teaching kiss that looks like more), and then Peggy and DiDi go off and end up having comfort sex with each other. But meh, whatever; I still kind of like these characters, but find that I don't actually care much what closing configuration Giz and Dave have lined up. Like I said, it's just machinery shutting down.

Actually, what I really want is this storyline to end, because I can at least hope that we'll get the promised SDB stuff after that. Which is stupid of me, because we'll probably switch to Izzy or something instead.

Between this and the jewel thief plot over in Sandra on the Rocks, I get now why the Pixie Trix comics are really coming to an end.

Dave is sick of romantic comedy. He wants to do action stuff!

I'm not sure if it'll happen, but I'm still somewhat rooting for Gary and Peggy to end up together. I don't know, maybe I just love their chemistry, and love how they actually work well together. For me, i'm just hoping Gary and Zii don't go much farther then what we saw.

Another session of Peggy scolding in three...two...(well, hoping, anyway - Peggy's always awesome when she's chewing someone out for being an insufferable dolt).

Or low budget soft core porn; if you use Dangerously Chloe as an example.

Maybe the strip will end with Peggy, DiDi, Gary and Zii all hooking up in a poly-amorous relationship.

At which point, the strip get's reborn as "Menage a Quatre". Low budget soft core porn or not, I'd read the Hell out of that.

I sense a shower is in order. Exposure to bodily fluids and all that. Maybe for both of them since Didi should also be sticky/sweaty. Montreal really is a small city, how easily both characters magnetically attracted to one another. Meh.

I'm glad that Bianca should be kicked to the wayside, considering Peggy's newfound light into Bianca's coldheartedness towards human life... not to mention the whole spy drama... and getting shot at! It was an interesting idea, but really only helped to illuminate Peggy's collegiate after school activities. I'm also glad that Peggy - wise or otherwise - is sticking to her nurse's care for human life... even if that human was intent on murdering them. It really speaks to her character. Peggy really is the best of the cast.

I guess we'll see if Zii was able to keep her hands off of Gary, or if Didi will 'do it' for Zii any longer.

I think that Peggy is cool too, but be fair; she's just been in the middle of a gunfight, and seen a man shot and possibly killed by her ex. Judging by her expression in panel 4 (good work there, Giz), she's unsurprisingly close to being in shock. She's already showing her awesomeness here just by keeping her shit together. Expecting her to worry about DiDi's silly triviality right now is hardly reasonable.

I'd simplify this; I think that Dave is just bored, period.

Not sure if true, but wouldn’t blame him in the slightest if so. How many years have these comics been running? I’d imagine everybody involved is bored by now. Anyone would be.

I don't buy that excuse. There are webcomics that have been running far longer and still manage to keep storylines fresh and interesting. If Dave and Giz are bored, fine, time to end things. Just don't claim that this mediocre storyline was inevitable. Oddly enough, I haven't read anything about Dave's future projects. Did I miss an announcement?
