Can't criticise Lynn for not being consistent, as she continues to view people as objects and - by silence - is enabling the dim-witted DiDi and the hot-headed Maura to wrestle in their underwear for her own amusement; certainly can't blame her for enjoying the sight, but can blame her for manufacturing the situation - it wasn't the event she had planned, but her machinations did manipulate both of the less intelligent ladies into this impromptu, silly, but sexy fight.

I'm glad it hasn't escalated into anything... less *dignified*. The bout of the beauties strangely remains rather sexy, as it is a display of near-naked athleticism, without falling into crudeness or vulgarity.

Something completely different, I suppose we'll see where the inexplicable action movie from last update leads to later? :))

Maura has some nice ab definition

OF COURSE so many of us forgot about The Economy Of Funny. In the Ma3 Universe, Montreal only has one hotel, and it only has a couple of floors, so naturally Lynn would be next door to Bianca.

I doff my hat to those of you who realized that as quickly as they did.

That last panel.....that move has a name. I've seen someone do it before, I KNOW I have. It's basically a double chickenwing with the legs. Ricky Steamboat used the same move in the NWA way back when, but he used his arms. It has a damn name and I am drawing a blank.

I'm still not convinced that Lynn & Bianca are at the same apartment. "Bang" and "Crash" are not the same sounds. Would it make the Economy easier? Surely. But with the scenes changing at an almost strobe-like level of confusion & frequency, the creative team are taking pains (literally) to ensure that there is no doubt that these scenes are happening simultaneously. Dissimilar sounds. Most likely dissimilar locale.

Nice art, but at the moment the Didi/Lynn/Maura triangle is the least engaging for me... especially after last strip's "divide by zero" danger/gun segue. Just my two cents.

Lynn is obviously interested in Didi & Maura wrestling, but she doesn't seem flushed by it. This still isn't her particular kink she mentioned to Mojo.

Do you still tip the room service if they get to watch such a spectacle while partaking of the fare? Asking for a friend.

Well, for once I can claim an unambiguously accurate "called it" with a straight face. Though talking of straight, or not, the one thing I didn't expect was that the waiter would be female but, this being Ma3 Montreal, would be happy to watch anyway.

Three strands of scene-hopping really is one too many for my tastes, but we're not out of control yet, and I wouldn't be surprised if the next we saw of Peggy was simply her fleeing Bianca's room, half-dressed, and saying "...it sounds like a fascinating new job you've got, but I don't think it's my style". Or, if it turns out that they are in the next room to this fiasco (for which, no, we don't have much solid evidence yet), we just discover that Bianca is a slightly jumpy plain-clothes cop, and she shrugs, says "false alarm", and they go off together again.

My first thought, a couple of episodes ago, was that the panel of Peggy and Bianca was just Gary's imagination answering Zii's "Well, yeah, what else could 'too exciting' mean?" question -- and "nude and semi-dressed women and guns" would be a perfect answer to a nerd like Gary.

Then I read the comments and reconsidered. Dramatic Unity pretty much demands that there be a connection between panels -- "too exciting" then cuts to "loud drama in a hotel room." Then another cut to "loud dramatic sounds in a hotel room" strongly implies that the two events are connected, and "bang" and "crash" are both kinda generic sound effects. Bianca's gun implies the "bang" was a gun shot, but it doesn't demand it. This episode makes it possible that the "bang" was actually sounds of wrestling than of gunshots, and if DIDi is involved in the wrestling, then it's almost a given that it will be very loud and very boisterous.

On the other hand, I find it slightly improbable that Bianca could hear the crash loudly enough to take her attention away from a naked Peggy but the room service lady wouldn't hear enough to disrupt her knock and announce routine, but time is fluid. The "BANG" could have happened between panels 3 and 4, when she was already watching and munching.

Now that I've thoroughly killed the joke by overexplaining it, let me apologize by noting that the almost-perfect duplication of the postures of Lynn and the room service waitress in the last panel is wonderful. And yes, Maura does have some really nice ab definition.

My magic 8-Ball had somewhat similar predictions! viewtopic.php?f=4&t=17392&start=15#p594830

Say, Magic 8-Ball, who could be in the room next to Lynn's?

*shakes Magic 8-Ball, then examines it*

Huh. "Signs Point To Peggy." How 'bout that? ;)

Somewhere, in some corner of the hotel, a guest services manager is fuming and wondering where the hell that blonde room attendant has run off to.
We, the old ghosts of Pizen Bluff, who still roam about this dead forum screaming imprecations at the characters and whatnot.

“Too exciting” cutting to “(Apparent) gunfight” was a joke; no need to invoke anything as high-falutin’ as dramatic unities. Anyhow, that term usually seems to refer to the “classical unities” (unity of action, unity of place, unity of time), which this comic long since dropped in the skip.

But even beyond those rules (which nobody obeys these days), Ma3 doesn’t really go for tidy consistency — just contrived councidences for the sake of jokes. (Frankly, it often seems to regard consistency as too much trouble.) So, will Peggy and Bianca turn out to be next door to this scene? Who knows? It’s possible, but there’s no laws west of the Pecos.

Oh, absolutely, Spidrift. I freely admit I'm speculating wildly. (Which is the fancy way of "pulling ideas out of my ass.") And it's usually been my style, when doing so, to spell out my reasoning for why I think things. I think that, in the real world, the two hotel rooms being adjacent is ridiculously unlikely. However, within the Ma3 universe, it's almost mandatory that they be adjacent.

Either way, I can't wait for Saturday to see what the hell happens next.

And the day I hit the lottery is the day I offer Giz a five-figure commission (US or Canadian, her choice) for a series of strips showing Gary and Zii... um... "indulging the little man in the boat."

Meh. We’ve seen those two doing what they do separately; seeing them at it together is basically a Photoshop job. I’d offer that money for a detailed depiction of what Andy and Ruby did after the last time we saw them — and if that got me a series of strips of them in a Middle Eastern restaurant, discussing the need for better communication, well, that’d be cute.
