I like that Gary has matured, even if it might be "mechanical" or rapid. I imagine that Gary is a quick learner and that it was mostly his shyness & exsanguination that has kept him back. And despite his general 'nerd level' lack of ambition, once opportunity hits him in the head like a brick he does at least try his best. His past numerous failures have apparently helped him develop... that and us being in the end game.

I like that this strip is not a comic punchline. It needed a little dose of seriousness to help usher in what appears to be some serious character development and/or room assignments.

And if he’s going to move on, I seriously hope he talks to Peggy first. If she knows he wants something serious, she might be willing to settle down too. It seems ridiculous for Gary to make the choice to move on without at least having a conversation with her. But I guess that’s a comic for you.
He has just as much freedom to look elsewhere as she does. I completely agree that as part of the 'friend' in the FwB relationship, dialogue is in order. And Gary is taking her date with Bianca rather hard. We don't even fully know if Peggy & Bianca got intimate... although their flirtatiousness certainly would make one jump to that conclusion. We also know how dangerous that can be, even in this universe. We know Gary wants something more permanent; Peggy knows that too. If Peggy cares for Gary as much as Gary tells us he likes her, I don't see their friendship having to completely dissolve. She was good for him, although I am not entirely sure if that is reciprocal.

I especially like Zii's look in panel 4. There is a lot to read in her stare. I think she... or at least I hope she... is seeing Gary in a new light. I'm not even talking in a romantic light, although that would be a possibility if she no longer considered Gary inept and a "human cold shower." She blanketly declares Gary sexually competent with the ladies, so he is no longer inept in her eyes. Is his maturity in these matters enough to have her realize that he has become something desirable (in her eyes) and not just a milquetoast?

I don't necessarily see their conversation immediately jump to the porn pity party. Zii's libido is still in question; although as I brought up above, he may have just graduated in her eyes. Like Lita, Zii should know that Gary would never hurt her. The same cannot be said of Didi. She and her pet know he is kind and devoted. Lita just needs to hop in his lap to seal the deal... Zii too (but for much more fun.)

If the hodge-podge order of the strips (Lynn's hotel, Gary's walk of introspection, Zii & Didi's miscommunication, Peggy & Bianca's after-date) is indicative of actual chronological events, I think we are going to be getting some seriously yummy fanservice... perhaps in consecutive panels... showing how everyone is faring sexually.

We still have the wild card of Maura appearing at Lynn's doorstep and if Maura is there for hanky-panky or literally more wrestling lessons (she doesn't appear to be dressed that way)... and how Didi interacts with that apparent jumble. We also need to see if Peggy prefers blondes.

Do recall, before this cavalcade of cray started, that Zii was at the door contemplating sexy fun time with Gary, and then walked in to find DiDi all a'wail over being ditched by Kiley and... yyeah. :D

Methinks some earlier thoughts re: Gary could be revisited by Ms. Nielsen, mayhap.

Anybody settling down with anybody in this setting is going to be a second (or hundred-and-second) choice on both sides, really, given all the promiscuous shagging and past bad choices and general shortage of virgins. (And I just hope to the gods that Ruby doesn’t settle down with Andy, because one of my few bits of fanboy feeling is that he’s not good enough for her — fine as available eye candy, but dumb as a rock, while she’s smart or she’s nothing.) In the case of Zii and Gary, it’d be far less “settling for second best” and far more “noticing what’s been staring you in the face all along”.

Ah, the clunking sound of building-blocks dropping into place. Or at least, ducks lining up.
Those must be some heavy-ass ducks.

I still prefer Gary solo and Zii solo.
both learning to just "be themselves in their own skin" first

.................I really should not.
but i also really want to....

Make a bad joke about niagra falls or hoover dam's grand opening.

Aren't most couples, technically, second, third, etc choices? :p

Thinking on Zii's libido, however, maybe the problem with Zii's sex drive, is the work that's needed for Didi. She was friends and infatuated with Didi for sure, but did she really love her?

She got what she wanted, and what she wanted took a lot of effort to keep satisfied and all that person wants, is to be satisfied.

It may seem rapid, but I think it was just a matter of time after all the crazy stuff he got mixed up in. It finally came to a head with James and Tracy and he's been standing up for himself ever since. Aside from misreading what he had with Peggy he's done quite well for himself.

He's sad that things aren't meant to be with Peggy, but he's not obsessed with getting her back an is mature enough to move on. Perhaps this is what Zii needs to see before she jumps his bones.

Mmm. Zii was (rationally) concerned that a virgin Gary who got sex the wrong way — e.g. from pity — would develop the wrong attitude. The sight of him being an adult human being who can meet with triumph and disaster and treat those two imposters just the same might just lead her to think of him as someone who it’s safe to consider as a partner.

Of course, this potential relationship could also be described as the ultimate case of double-sided rebound sex.

The sound you're hearing is Zii's paradigm shifting without a clutch.

Is Gary looking at Zii in the last panel, or downward?

If he's looking at her, his line would seem to imply an unspoken "... like you." at the end. Zii's "ZOINKS" look could have more of an edge - "Holy crap, Gary's making a move on me!"

If he's looking downward, then he's just making a general statement and not lobbing huge hints at Zii. The "ZOINKS" look could be her coming to some feels she's not ready or willing to let in the door on her own, without a direct poke from Gary.

I read it as him looking downward (or rather, more into space in an unfocused way). I really doubt that it's even crossed his mind to make a move on Zii; they've just been discussing the seriousness of her relationship with DiDi, after all, and Gary is an honourable guy.

Am I the only one who would actually like to see Zii and Gary end up together? Honestly some of my favorite pages have been them together. They have a deeper connection than any other characters in this whole universe and they haven't even done it. That really says something in my opinion.

Nope! I would like that too. \M/ I think the two of them have been going through life experiences to get to a point where they can come to one another and be together.
