I really hope Gary remembers that Peggy isn't that type of girl and ignores Matt's advice. C'mon Gary, you've been on a roll lately.

Gary won't crash the date because that would be un-Garylike behavior.

I bet the date will end up her hanging out with a friend or family member too.

That's that, then? I really hope Matt and Yuki don't end up together... I may or may not have said before, but I don't think she should be romantically attached to anyone, until she sorts out her issues (much like Sonya *seems* to be doing), least of all with Matt. Gary isn't a good option either

We were going so well with Gary being reasonably dismissive against ridiculous sexual shenanigans, or anything ridiculous overall. Going to "crash" Peggy's date is what I was afraid would happen earlier with the idiot duo, but now it is being directed by the overzealous Yuki and monumentally delusional Matt?!
I seriously doubt Peggy "wants" Gary to show up uninvited and stalker-like; however, there is also the point where she never said it was a romantic date. I may be misremembering, yet I thought she specified "dinner date," and the qualifier of "dinner" usually means it is simply a meeting over a meal with a friend, not a romantic rendezvous.
Gary, while having a spine now, still is probably extremely awkward, thus would not be able to believably pull off something like, "oh, what a coincidence to see you here, too," and the exercise would jeopardise the only genuinely positive relationship that he has...

Yuki's cluelessness can be charming, or at least amusing, though I'm undecided whether her lack of insight in final panel amuses me or inspires a face palm... Well, guess it depends ultimately upon what happens next.

*Wince.*

One really would hope that a combination of Old-Gary shyness and New-Gary spine would lead him to say "no, this really is stupid", and walk away. But that's not how fiction works, so of course we're going to see Gary trailing off to a really good smart name restaurant and acting like a confused jerk. It's hard to see how this can be made funny rather than embarrassing or feeble. (Just for a start, would a popular, smart, booked-up restaurant even let Gary in?) Is this just going to be an excuse to break Gary and Peggy apart?

Hell, I'd credit Matt with being smarter than this -- and Yuki's punchline here doesn't make sense , because for all her faults, she knows perfectly well that she has issues, and has never gone around boasting about her sanity. But the desperate need for a last-panel joke combines with the urge to kick the wrap-up plotlines along, and here we are.

Peggy's description of her commitment may involve some semantic subtleties that are going to cause some confusion, too. It's funny, but if someone says that they've got a "date" tonight, I tend to assume that it's at least potentially romantic, but if they say "dinner date", I read that as very possibly platonic; the expression can be used non-creepily for a night out with a family member or something. Or is that just me? Also, I assumed that Peggy mentioned the well-known, highly rated restaurant to explain why she wasn't going to cancel on a whim; Le Filet sounds like it's too good to skip.

Anyhow, sigh, I guess we now have to wonder who Peggy is seeing. The possibility that crosses my mind is that Jim has tried to change and wants her back. But whatever.

ok, you watch. He'll listen to Matt (not a good idea in any circumstance) and crash the date. That'll make her mad and sink the SS PegGary.

Leaving him and Zii single to get together in the end.

Actually, for all his faults, Matt is usually smarter than this. Some of his past advice to Gary wasn't that bad, and he helped Ruby a lot on their one meeting. Hell, he's clearly helping Yuki quite a bit with her little problem. This is just an idiot plot moment, very possibly to get through to the Gary-Zii conclusion you mention.

What was Peggy’s ex’s name? Jim I think?

The rules of comidrama demand Peggy be there with him.

But it’s not actually a date.

But Gary will see them and assume the worst.

The knife has been inserted; no need to keep twisting the blade. Yuki + Matt, now. Got it.

Gary: go home. Or at the very most, politely accept the sushi invitation and ignore 'crashing' Peggy's date. This isn't a repeat of the movie threesome. Don't be jealous or petty, or curious even. Just. Go. Home. Don't turn into a creeper. Read some comics. Play a game. Watch some Transformers. Get some laundry done. Pet Lita even (poor girl is ignored).

I am really hoping that the creative team aren't going to make Gary available for Zii by killing off his alternates, plot-wise, then making him be lonely. Then Zii being lonely & damaged too (assumingly after Didi and her fall through), they commiserate and realize they are both lonely together... porn night... blah blah. It would be a waste of Gary's new spine to just have Zii & Gary just be the two left standing when the game of musical chairs finishes playing its song.

No, that's Matt's schtick. In the Real World, we exercise discretion by only schtoinking trusted partners, friends, and laundry.

Welcome to Bad Advice With Matt and Yuki!

Ahem. Oh bollocks. This won't end well. I'll be honest if this is just an excuse to kick the Peggy/Gary ship to it's knees and put two in the back it's head execution style... right after detonating the magazine of the GaryYuki ship I... well I'm not checking out at this late date, but that would just be too damn convenient for fiction, never mind reality.

Do note that Gary has never met Jim. He was in Paris the night that Jim got subjected to the madness.
