On a separate note, I find it hilarious that anyone could have thought that the authors of Ma3 cannot speak correct French. They set their comic in Montréal, people. Image
Lived in Montréal for nearly a decade, never actually mastered Québécois
did come to comprehend that there is a bit of a gulf between France French and Québécois tho
particularly with slang in the mix -- even moreso with sub-dialects like Joual

worked with a number of people who communicated in English with various French inserts
so always have appreciated Didi's mashup of words
the comic started back while I was living in Montréal, but pick up the signed edition of the book each year for memory sake (have since moved back to the prairies)

relevant to the particularities of Québécois vulgarity

direct translation to English would give a bunch of Church objects
but it's pretty much like dropping the f-bomb over and over
swearing was the funnest thing coworkers taught me :-bd

I’ve heard it implied that a lot of French people don’t think that Quebeccers speak proper French... And the idea that different people in different parts of the world have different terms for boobs with different implications has me shocked — shocked, I tell you.

(Funnily enough, I’m not sure that British English has a term that unambiguously means large boobs. I guess “bristols” comes close.)

If Didi used Spaniglish, she would have said "I took una ducha and it faded off mis tetas"...

Lesbian bed death? Already!?
Looks like Zii is avoiding sex with DiDi on purpose, yes. I'm starting to suspect something has gone weird in her head. The human mind tends to associate events or feelings that happen at the same time even if they are unrelated. The last time Zii had great sex with DiDi, she lost her band and the friendship of Sonya and Yuki. She might have unconsciously associated "banging DiDi" with "bad things happen".
That could be, but I think it might be more likely that Zii is just tired and needs a break. Especially if their sex sessions are as vigorous and long as indicated. Also, we can't discount the emotional (self-brought-upon) beatdown she's recieved recently, courtesy of her poor decisions. Emotional hurt can manifest itself in many different ways, physical exhaustion being one of them.

That moment when you realize Wyoming's Grand Teton actually translates to Big Tit Mountain. #-o
This is a bit of trivia I’ve known for years.
Oddly enough, I learned that bit of trivia from my Mom. She finds it immensly funny

I wonder whether the Wyoming Grand Teton formed the inspiration for the humorously named mountain range on Terry Pratchett's Discworld: The Paps of Scylla. :p

Another thing similar to Wyoming's Grand Teton (which is hilarious btw) is the Buick Lacrosse car. They changed the name in Canada for a few years until eventually giving in to its real name in the US, but in Quebec/French Canada "La Crosse" basically means "The jizzem" or "the cum". Saying "se crosser" means to jerk yourself off, and then "crosse" is what comes out. So a Buick Lacrosse is very funny to us in French Canada. :)

So, what do they call the sport lacrosse up there?
Pointless arguing is one of the three pillars upon which the Internet is built. The other two are of course cat pictures and porn.

Giz, thanks for telling us about "crosser" -- that's one word I didn't know about. I love stories about double entendres. It seems to happen often with car names. That link you provided had a lot of funny examples! I know of one they forgot to mention: the Mitsubishi Pajero. :p I'll leave it to the native Spanish-speakers in the forum to explain what's the problem with that name. (In Spain and South America, they had to rename it "Montero", haha.)

I also know of one spectacular example that has nothing to do with cars. "Branler" in French means "to shake". It's a very old word, one that already meant "to shake" in the Middle Ages. In modern French, it also means "to masturbate" -- and, actually, it's used way more often with that colloquial meaning than with the original one. However, in Middle Ages French, it was a bit different: the colloquial meaning of "branler" was "to dance". Why am I telling you this? Well, I once saw in a Belgian museum a very famous tapestry from 6 centuries ago called the "Dance Tapestry" where several young couples danced and at the same time made comments about how they loved dancing so very much. (The comments were weaved in the tapestry in speech balloons, believe it or not, just like in a modern comic!) And in these comments the word "branler" was used for "dancer" -- resulting in statements like these:

"Branler est ce que je fais de mieux, je peux branler pendant des heures!"
"Je branle, branle et branle encore, car branler est mon seul plaisir."
"Branler seul est délicieux, branler à deux est encore mieux!"
"Quand je branle, je me sens plus proche de Dieu."

Reading these things today, most museum-goers make faces like... well, I'm sure you can guess by yourself. ;))
We, the old ghosts of Pizen Bluff, who still roam about this dead forum screaming imprecations at the characters and whatnot.

The same. In regards to the car, I think it became more an issue 'cause they made an issue out of it and called the car something else for a while. They basically called attention to it. I guess they feared they couldn't sell a car with such a name in Quebec.

I'm lucky I wasn't drinking anything when I read these, cuz I would have spit everything on my monitor & keyboard..... I realize it's about dancing, but it sounds like the gospel of jerking off...

also: amazing that they already used phylactères in Belgium 600 years ago... the Belgian school of bédé is older that you'd think, lol...

I... #-o I just... ~X( I just can't.

Guess DiDi felt a disturbance in the Force (Maura in the last few comics) and decided she had to regain the crown of "most dense."

Though, let's be honest, if she HAD written down Annie's number before washing it off, she would have likely transcribed it mirrored and even if she had figured out to turn the numbers around, she would have dialled it backwards...

Bit of a belated point and most likely already addressed, but: Lynn being an "expy" of a snake monster (lamia?) is made a bit too on the nose by having her be an actress playing a snake monster almost identical to the source character.
Speaking of "bit belated", I wanted to write this in the last thread but forgot, but it fits well here.

As we all realize, the wrestling characters are expys of the *C-niverse youths.
On the other hand, we know Eerie Cuties in the Ma3-verse is a very successful comic drawn by Giz & Dave - in-universe.
Now I wonder... Have we ever been told the wrestlers' personnages are actually based on Eerie cuties? Or is there meant to be no link??

I'm proud of myself that I understood all that - the only word I would not have known is branler itself.

Anyway, sounds like quotes from the Fap Guy in Sexy Losers. :)) :)) :))
