Credit to Erik for managing to be both nonjudgmental and not letting Zii manipulate the facts as she often does. He could easily just have excused himself to let Zii wallow in her self-made misery, yet - since he has been shown as a chill person - it isn't out of character for him to be sympathetic, even to someone who had completely betrayed his trust (intriguing contrast with Sonya).
Best of luck to Sonya and Yuki in the new band; Angel might be a bullying jerk, however, they are certain to value the talent more than the absentee Zii. I don't hate Zii, but do enjoy that there are consequences afflicting her and may they continue to disrupt the self-indulgent, previously karmic evader.
Angel's remaining band mate seems to either not be pleased with the additions, or he is simply well-versed in Angel's arguably callous band member-shuffling; since he is looking at Angel with an indifferent expression, I'd say the latter is more likely.

Agreed. He's wearing the not-impressed face.

Could also just be his rocker persona. One of those “I don’t care about anything, ever” types.

Also, I just gotta ask: what kind of janky-ass sound studios are these, where you can hear the neighbors through the walls?! :P

Ah, Zii was being tragically optimistic there, even before reality told her so.

Yeah. At this point, he’s grabbed the smart ball.

Erik is definitely a chill dude, but to be fair to Sonya — it’s a few weeks or months since Zii hurt him. That’s time for the pain to fade a little and basic forgiveness to kick in. Sonya may even manage something comparable in time. (For that matter, Sonya is taking the high road so far. Despite all our predictions, the sum total of her melodramatic vengeance to date has been quitting the band and pointing Zii’s misbehaviour out to Yuki.)

Or he’s just heard the Big Nooooo coming through the wall, and is deciding what to make of it. Or he’s a minor character drawn small at the back of a scene, and Giz only sketched his expression (though she is usually good about those things).
Also, I just gotta ask: what kind of janky-ass sound studios are these, where you can hear the neighbors through the walls?! :P
I noticed that too. I think these characters have a shared reality-warping power that renders all structural materials acoustically transparent.

Hmm. Chances of Zii asking Erik to pass explanatory messages on to Yuki? Because while he’s currently being a nice, chill guy, asking him to sabotage the promising new line-up of the band he manages might be stretching sympathy too far.

And I must say I like idea of Sonya and Yuki as a real Jones-Cook, Bruce-Baker pressure cooker of a rhythm section.

And the humiliation conga for Zii continues. The question now becomes what will Zii do now? Apologize to Sonya and Yuki? Maybe she'll ask to join Angel's band? Or will Zii try to build up Izzy and Terry into competent band members for a new band? The story continues to move at a snail's pace despite this being the final volume and it's probably going to move even slower next month when the comic goes to only two updates a week instead of three.

Hold on a moment. Zii did not know Sonya quit? I mean, Lita just strolled back home on her own? Gary didn't pass the message yelled at him along to ZIi? Seems unlike Gary to not deliver a message punctuated by feline. Selective listening and/or drunk on Didi indeed. I figure Zii just did not want to accept Sonya's resignation, or her culpability, or both... and just hid between Didi's thighs to delay.

As to the walls being "acoustically transparent", maybe it is an endemic problem with the construction unions in Montreal and everyone's walls are abysmally thin? Or comedy and the joke is wearing thin.

Erik has always been a cool dude. Zii could have done well by 'settling' for him instead of constantly looking for greener more 'abundant' pastures. I also agree that I don't think he should betray the band he manages.

As far as the dude with the nonplussed facial expression... I don't know what to make of it. He is in the far background. He doesn't look like a typical 'grunge' or 'emo' guy. Maybe he's not happy about being the next one on Angel's chopping block? Or maybe he's not happy about Angel gushing over Yuki & Sonya and not acknowledging his contribution to their jam session.

I agree that her backtracking her problem seems to be taking a while to uncover. But since this is (hopefully) going to be the most major character growth moment for Zii and that she is currently not intoxicated on Didi, I feel it is warranted. I hope the creative team allows Zii to grow into a better person, instead of giving us strip after strip of Zii wallowing in self-pity over her actions. I also feel that Zii should offer an honest and heartfelt apology to both Yuki & Sonya, without trying to change their minds about switching back to the Troublemakers. If they eventually can't stand Angel or their band's drama, then let them make the decision to rejoin Zii. The real question is whether Zii will realize how Didi makes her act (or rather, magnifies Zii already semi-irresponsible behavior). Time has come for Ms. Nielsen to grow up a bit.

I still hold out that Zii and Gary have a good chance of ending up paired together (or with a third as well). Once Zii gets over her bad self, she can reconnect with the Dazzler comics reading enthusiasm of her youth and act on the curiosity she felt about Gary. Gary still regrets not getting to know Zii biblically. It could be a way to get Yuki back as well.

Any idea which days Ma3 will update in 2018?

No, of course she knew. Zii just says "Yuki told me that Sonya quit", because that's what Yuki said. She doesn't bother adding "...which I already knew", because that would be superfluous.

It's not a joke in itself; it's something that enables jokes. Slightly lazy jokes, to be sure.
Erik has always been a cool dude. Zii could have done well by 'settling' for him instead of constantly looking for greener more 'abundant' pastures.
Zii is like Desire of the Endless; one of anything is never enough for her. Now, she probably could and should have negotiated a solution to that problem with Erik -- but there were complications. Two of them, on DiDi's torso.

Seems to be one of those comic/cartoon sound studios where you can only hear stuff when it would be funny.

Being a bad girl has consequences. It is not all just fun.

I am still predicting that Zii will end up with Sonya and Yuki. Doesn't look to be right away though.

Ah, another comic comes and goes and there's nothing to complain about. I find that agreeable.

And all the same things said about the last few are still being said here. I would debate the things I don't agree with, esp. regarding Sonya, but I still don't want to. Too exhausting. Instead I'm just going to sit here and hope for the best, including that the redeemable receive redemption.

Giz tends to stick to certain narrative/dialogue patterns, doesn't she?

when Zii alienates someone & is all remorseful afterwards, she goes confess her sins to some other character and dialogue is always the same way...

IE, lookie this:

Image

I think this was a little after the Erik breakup... you see what I mean? same situation, same attitudes & almost same wording (in a 3-balloon structure) coming from 2 completely diff characters...

'Huh?'
'Oh!'
'That'll do it.'

versus:

'Sounds right so far.'
'Twice?'
'That might do it.'

Really feel like.. that last band member is pondering the worth of staying vs leaving for something else given how Angel plays his band like musical chairs. Or he has history with Yuki and Zii as well.

Honesty don't like Angel either. Yuki is about the only one I enjoy around here I guess.

Sonya and Yuki seem quite happy with the way the band sounds. If I may take a guess, maybe Zii actually won't try to put the troublemakers back together? I mean, at this point it feels this would simply not work without cutting massive corners.

To me, it would make a lot of sense if Zii admitted this whole thing is on her, then figured out a way to legitimately apologize to the girls, and simply let them be a good band along with Angel. Maybe even support them and go to their gigs?

As for Izz and Terry, I seriously doubt they can simply "get good" all of a sudden. But wouldn't it be a step forward if Zii did decide to go ahead, and for a change, mentor both of them for real? Not in order to go toe-to-toe with the Electric Toyz, but simply as a way to rebuild her life and her confidence by actually building something more solid and trying to be less awful? Something that will take time. A fresh start of sorts.

Wishful thinking, I know, but if she is going to grow as a character, a path like that is not fully out of the question, methinks.
