Initial thoughts: DiDi looks lovely as always, and unlike someone from another comic I could mention, it's not off-putting by knowledge of her secretly being a dude. I'm well-aware of her not-ideal personality, before anyone tries to remind me, but compared to all the other crap going on around her, she really doesn't stand out as especially bad right now. Also, I see Zii is actually facing consequences for her actions, which should assuage anyone who wants to complain about Zii being a Karma Houdini, as long as they keep this up and don't let her cop out of facing up to those consequences and facing atonement - not that I think they will, but you never know. And of course, Izz is a few instruments short of an orchestra, but what else is new? Lastly, that is one sad drummer they've got there too. That at the very least should make an interesting strip on Tuesday.
Broader view: You know, I see a bunch of people wanting Zii to suffer harshly for her actions, or to end the comic with nothing. I won't say I want her to suffer, but it
is the logical follow-up from her careless and selfish actions; however, I want it to lead to a Jerkass Realization, and after the guilt settles in for a while, character growth and possibly redemption. I know some of you are probably laughing at the idea, but Gary's generation of vertebrae has given me hope that it's Zii's turn to make honest-to-God changes in her life, and DiDi soon after. God knows that if we're going to see these characters get a satisfying ending they're all going to have to be better people than they were at the start of this. Kind of like in
Peggy and Aggie, say. I'm not sadistic enough to want her to suffer for its own sake and then have nothing happen.
Likewise, with Sonya, I've made clear my stance on her in past threads, and it hasn't changed. Her myopic "Cheating is only bad when it happens to ME!" attitude lost me even before she quit the band and left for greener pastures, and unless I see an indication that her dramasexuality will be challenged and getting a taste of her own medicine will actually drive her to be a better person as well, which it doesn't look like happened at all, I can't in good conscience root for her to succeed in... whatever she plans to accomplish here. (On the other hand, I won't vigorously root
against her as long as it leads to interesting plot developments, which it has right now.) Yuki I understand getting dragged into this, and will keep my faith in the writers of this strip in mind as we journey further into the unknown.
Wrapping up: I am furnished with an idea - before SDB went into hyper-sleep, Zii noticed Angel making out with a guy who was definitely not Jerzy. Could that come up later in this arc? Maybe as Zii's ace-in-the-hole once the full details emerge?
Also:
@worldshaking00, you posted the same comment twice. I suggest you delete the second one - the mods probably will anyway if you don't.
