So personally this strip kind of annoys me for a few reasons.

First as others have noted, if this is the hospital Peggy works at this is incredibly unprofessional even if she's off duty, and if found out I would imagine be grounds for termination, or at least disciplinary action.

Next although they only went on one date, and Maura said Gary isn't her type, Peggy and Gary don't know that so this seems like kind of jerk move on their part. For Peggy because she knows that Gary is looking for something more serious and had just gone on a date with someone else, but still swooped in the next day (I might feel a bit more charitable if it wasn't established how much she enjoyed this).

And for Gary despite saying he wants something more serious and having just gone on a date with someone, still went for it. Honestly my first reaction was that Gary is becoming Matt, saying he wants an actual relationship but still sleeping with anything that moves. I know it was only one date and all (and a bit of a disaster), but this is the very next day.

On the subject of Gary's enjoyment, I doubt it's the case but it honestly wouldn't overly surprise me if it turned out to be the cosplay and positive geeky association that he had really liked all those times.
He's not becoming Matt.

Gary wants a real relationship. One date with Maura, does not equal a real relationship. You don't go on one date with someone and are then in a real relationship with until one of you breaks it off.

You're in a real relationship with someone, when you both say you're in one. :p

As for the unprofessionalism on Peggy's part. Yeah, like that doesn't happen at hospitals or other jobs. Sad reality is, people are dumb and can't act like adults and control themselves a lot of the time. The "No Sex At Work" rule gets broken by adults a lot. :p

Besides, Peggy is not gaining any pleasure from this.
You're clearly wrong about that. She's clearly enjoying it.
Elaborate how is that possible. :|
Interestingly enough, the writer of 'Oh Joy Sex Toy' gave a short insight about her experiences with a strap-on not so long ago (NSFW: http://www.ohjoysextoy.com/jaguar/), she describes in the lower part of the strip how she enjoys - in this case - blow jobs.

Even if this might not be an universal explanation, it makes a lot of sense to me, since it's highly realistic that a big part of sexual arousal, tension and even stimulation is psychological and also derives - amongst other things - from playing with power constellations (e. g. 'taking someone', 'giving it to someone', etc.) and acting outside the usual, daily dynamics.

Pegging someone must definitely feel empowering for a woman and with the 'gap-closing' abilities of a horny brain I can very well imagine that it can trigger positive physical reactions (maybe even leading to orgasm).

Yeah, uh, Peggy's professionalism really is an issue here. Lucky that's not her superiors indeed. Gary is a patient just now. This feels like a bit of shaky plotting to deliver on that long-pending joke, frankly.
Yup, this really sketchy right now. While yes they have history they aren't a real couple and assuming this is the hospital Peggy's works at then she could well get into some real trouble for haveing sex with a patient, esp one who has had a recent head injury. It's completely unprofessional, a tad unethical and I honestly expected better of this comic.

Seriously? Ma3 runs unashamedly on porn-logic half the time, and this is the breaking point?

Nobody's said that anything has been broken by this strip. I think that the people capable of being broken by an Ma3 strip were driven off a volume or two ago. There've just been a lot of us going "Hmm, okay, ha-ha-funny, but it feels a little bit out of character".

And expecting "better" of Ma3 is probably a bit optimistic; it's never been entirely above going for the quick laugh, or flanderising its characters a bit. I guess what especially jarred about this strip, for me at least, is that Peggy has always been shown as taking her job seriously. She snapped out of her drunken sex-frenzy in an instant when she thought that Sonya might have concussion, and her first "How do we deal with this job?" conversation with her colleague made her look admirable and sympathetic. Straining that particular bit of story consistency for the sake of a gag just feels particularly off.

Actually every time we've seen them going at it prior to this (and maybe this time as well) it was in costume,
Nope, half of the time they aren't cosplaying and they're obviously not cosplaying now and he's still into it.

I don't know if you saw the last panel, but they're not in costume. Gary is in his hospital gown, which isn't a costume.

I literally went back over every strip since Peggy and Gary met and every time we see them going at it they are wearing costumes. And I did see the last panel, but I was saying maybe this time as well since as @worldshaking00 pointed out this could be considered a cos / role-play.

Gary wants a real relationship. One date with Maura, does not equal a real relationship. You don't go on one date with someone and are then in a real relationship with until one of you breaks it off.

Well to me he kind of is here. Gary's character developement can be generously referred to as moving at a glacial pace, but it seemed like it was kind of moving forward. At first it was wanting to lose his virginity / get a girlfriend, and after quite a while hey he got somewhere. Went through a number of "girlfriends" and then it kind of teetered off, but he got a new job he seemed to be growing a bit as a character. Then he says he's wanting something more serious, and then it sort of goes stagnate for a while, but then wonder of wonders he actually has a date.

Now Maura never seemed like it was going to be long term, but it still seemed like it could be an opportunity for Gary to grow a bit, even after his disastrous showing it seemed like maybe he could still learn a lesson from this somehow. The last conversation Maura and Gary had before he was knocked out was actually kind of sweet, and seemed kind of promising.

I'm not saying that Gary and Maura should exchange rings or anything at this point, but this is seemingly the very next morning after their date probably having just woken up, without even talking to Maura yet, he's having sex with Peggy. To me this seems more like character regression than development, and something more akin to what I would think Matt would do.

Obviously it looks like Maura was planning on shutting Gary down, but he (and Peggy) don't know that at this point. The last thing Gary probably remembers is having a heart to heart with Maura, her kissing him and then waking up in the hospital, and the first thing he does is to have sex with someone else. It seems to me if he's planning on treating every relationship as casual he's never going to actually have a serious one.

Not to mention that even if Gary was thinking "Oh it's not serious", not everyone is necessarily OK with seeing other people while going out with someone, and seeing how he should be well aware of how Maura was "over-competing" with Peggy during their date you'd think he might clue in that she might not be.

Good point. Although there's competition and then there's stubbornness to prove that something isn't what it is (at least in part for Gary's case not minding "taking it up the butt").

I'd be surprised if this even went to conversation, if this was a normal one-and-done sort of date... or real life. However I could see Maura getting Yuki-style angry and taking it out on Peggy. I could also see her yelling "WTF!" and making a big scene, possibly getting Peggy into trouble. But if this even does go to polite informative conversation, then I'd hope that Maura & Peggy & Gary can talk quietly and reasonably; Tess is just an observer trying to not get her $50 bet wiggled out of.

I kind of envisioned Gary or Peggy getting chocolates thrown at them and Maura storming off myself, possibly Gary attempting to stammer off some sort of apology. Maybe a cut to Maura angrily wrestling and pinning Roxie.

Except not really, that's her casual clothes and he's wearing a hospital gown.

Yes, but Peggy is a nurse, and Gary is a patient in a hospital gown, and they are in a hospital. I didn't say it definitively was, but this could quite easily be viewed as cos / role-play.

While I did find this strip funny, the whole Peggy pegging Gary joke is starting to get old.
