It really is a good time to recall that strip.
Looking back, that strip and the following one (the one that finished with Zii thinking "I'm gonna jump off a bridge because DiDi chose Kiley and not me!") were the beginning of a long arc of DiDi-deprivation for poor Zii.
All the strips we have been reading lately, alternating a Gary-Zii story and a DiDi-Kiley-Tess-Maura story, were leading towards this moment: a great conjunction of both plot lines, where finally the Zii/DiDi potential romance (which is central to MaT) can restart.
We, the old ghosts of Pizen Bluff, who still roam about this dead forum screaming imprecations at the characters and whatnot.
Maura, Tess, welcome to the carnival. Put your hands wherever you want on the attraction. Front seat warning: you will get wet.
(Yes, I know only Maura is coming onto him at the moment, but these two are one step removed from being Breeze from Talladega nights so the other will probably follow).

That would be a nice intro for Gary to make, but sadly out of character.
I'm not sure how Gary will break the ice with Maura (and Tess) but I am sure Maura knows how to do so. IIRC, both of the ladies used to be flight stewardesses previously; one could assume that the writing staff is borrowing a nasty stereotype of them being one-night-stand operators (akin of male sailors in every port, I gather). Fully agreed, more avatar images of the Swirly's effects incoming. And if the ladies take turns, one of them can be helping to take care of Gary too... preferably in a manner he'd find enjoyable. I'd also expect the moans to make Didi even more inconsolable (and Zii even more pent up).

I don't recall that at all. They used to be a pair of Olympic-level competitive divers, as I recall.

Zii isn't wasting any time is she? On the other hand neither is Maura but since Gary is probably still as dense as a neutron star he might not even realize that Maura is flirting with him.

yes, looks like Gary is interested in local wrestling ( and thus may have seen Tess and Maura in the past ) BUT Tracy interrupted before Gary noticed Didi was over there as an spectator and is not certain if Gary knows their characters in wrestling. ( Tess and Maura's ) as they are fairly new to that promotion.

This being Ma3, there is thus a 75% chance of new swirly image (or two) within a dozen strips. Of course, if Zii's move on DiDi fails and the swirly does what the swirly does in the next room, Zii will end up feeling like a confused idiot.
We also note the censor shower effect at full blast.
Honestly it is a little surprising how much Maura and Tess appear to get friendly with relatively random guys. I mean there's no reasonable reason why they would be starved for attention/affection other than them being very sportsy and a little on the silly side (nothing that big in MA3-verse in my eyes). Maybe they just spent so much time training they didn't have any time to do actual social interaction with their prefered sex partners.
... Also apparently Zii's completely under the Didi effect, I regret to say, which will play out in one of three ways, none of which I'll think I'll particularly enjoy.
The two of them train a lot and aren't really at the well known level or even a professional level. This likely keeps their dating a little on the low side.
So, they may drool over Dio, but they don't know him outside of fangirl and they may not wish to date the males who train in the gym around them.
