Zii would be thinking "that could have been me with Gary..." :))

Incidentally, even in the Ma3 universe, Maura suddenly glomming onto Gary like this might merit some kind of explanation beyond "she's suddenly at a loose end, he's male, not hideous, and standing in front of her". In fact, it's just possible that there is one. Gary evidently shares accommodation with DiDi, and it's conceivable that either (a) Maura thinks that this is an opportunity to acquire more intel on Gary, as ordered, or (b) this association actually makes Gary automatically cool in Maura's eyes.

Spidrift wrote:Ace really isn't much like Gary. He's a regular guy type with ordinary tastes (who just happens to be a werewolf). Gary is a total geek with negligible (though improving) social skills.

All they really have in common is that they're fairly harmless, have reasonable manners, and are occasionally somewhat unlucky. But Ace rolls through his bad luck because he's generally got his head together, whereas Gary brings a lot of his bad luck on himself, and although it's balanced by shedloads of insanely good luck, is somewhat prone to self-pity.
Ace is somewhat geeky even without comparing him to masters of suave like Kade and Dio. He has Dippy the Dead Kid comics in his room, his plans for a date with Melissa were corn dogs and curling, and he has furry hands. He didn't have his head together when he got roped into going out with Melissa while dating Brooke and then dating Nina.

A girl who plays a supervillainess for a living? The only way Maura would be a better match for Gary would be if she also happened to be a Transformer. :D

He got through that date just fine in the end, largely because the corn dogs and curling were affordable, simple, regular-guy pleasures that Melissa could quite easily appreciate when she let her guard down a little. (She was on the verge of making out with him by the time the date ended.) He started out with the natural nervousness of a guy on a date with a girl who may be out of his league, and got over it in the first half-hour.

Compare and contrast Gary, who drove off Sonya with his geekiness, caused Senna to spend twenty-four hours in denial of his flagrant hopelessness until it all got too much and she punched him in the face, and made Zii so disdainful that she's practically having a breakdown over the idea that she might be attracted to him - and Zii is a hell of a lot less snobbish than Melissa.

The only thing that's willfully geeky about Ace there is his liking for a goofy comic book, and he's young enough that that could pass as a very minor bit of juvenilia. He's written as a classic, likeable, passing-smart Joe Sixpack type in the making (with lycanthropy). Gary, by contrast... If you took a cross-section of Gary, you'd find the word "Geek" running through him from one end to the other.

'I like Maura/Tess and threesomes are cool if everyone's having fun BUUUUUUTTTTT'
now that I look again at the "but" link

does this mean Tess has difficulty getting to the big O?

poor Tess and how confused she will be if Gary gets to do the swirly on her and Maura

For most of that time though, Ace got a boost in confidence from Tia's magic, the lingering effect of the Tiresis Orb, and Melissa's makeover. Melissa herself was desperate from going to an all-girls school and partially influenced by the wand. Gary himself has gained confidence and lost a lot of his geekiness.

OT: an article about the men who love pegging. Giz has a pin-up in the new Fashion in Action collection.

Man, if there ever was a comic where I'm looking forward to the uncensored book version... :ymtongue:

Also, Maura just gave the opener of a porn movie. Now cut to the action!!! :P =p~
