FFFF I'm over this. Call it anything you like. I don't see how that isn't censorship, but then I don't know what else it would be either. I want Giz to be able to draw whatever she wants without having to worry about materialism. I'm sure we can at least agree on that much, that we want them to make ends meet and live happily and comfortably as the people they are.

I also don't think they should have to worry about what their fanbase likes or how they can please them for their sake and not because they really want to, and they definitely should not be afraid of offending anybody. If you're not happy with the views they've established, no one is forcing you to read it. If you don't consider it art, then it shouldn't bother you if they defend their artistic merit for their own sake. I think comics are art and I don't think it matters if others see it as disposable entertainment. I want Ma3 to last forever and in order for that to happen, it has to be able to express itself freely.

Funnily enough, the basis for Ma3 to last "forever" is actually earning enough money off it to make it worthwhile to continue.

Even when they said they knew the ads wouldn't last? What about the merch they're selling? Do you even know what money is?

It's a great bigass circle to dance around when you can't get what you want, so instead of just making a comic and eating and living your life, you have to make a comic, find people on the internet to put irrelevant shit on your website, start a fundraiser, draw Kiley with pants on, inform your fans that you've made all these decisions purely without their intentions in mind, and many other completely unnecessary steps that could be avoided if they could just make the comic and live their lives.

All of this because the very things they should be able to do are being witheld from them by somebody who does not want them to make comics, eat, and live their life. No artist needs to be talked into making things. An artist by their very nature is someone who makes things, because they want to. You're not an artist if this concept seems foreign to you. I stand by that.

Presumably, they still go to cons and stuff because they love doing it. Again, I know I'm whiteknighting, but it's not right for me to speak for someone else as if I'm the one living their life and making all their decisions for them, but at the very least I know what it's like to be a creative person and to be persuaded to do things I don't like, so I can empathize with that.

Let me put it this way: if money were valueless, would they still need to jump through all these superfluous hoops to publish their comic? If so, then this isn't a problem with wealth. It's the system they're working with. There is absolutely none of this that couldn't have been avoided with a bit of foresight. They already admitted this is not what they originally intended, so "whoops, sorry guys but the ads didn't like it" isn't an excuse for censorship.

Whoa keno sabi you need to slow down & rethink your position.

I scribble stories for my own fun but I still change stuff when my editor makes a good point, or the publisher asks.

I guess that makes you a traitor to the cause, suranae. :P

Anyway, my hint concerning PMs seems to have missed its mark... :-L

I know there's a debate of some kind going on, but all I hear is a 13 year old that just got his first erection and is crying about how his favorite spank material (for free) has been discontinued. Google some porn, kid. Damn.

To be honest, petulant as it seems, it was one thing to be told, as it seemed initially, "we'll be trying to avoid scenes with nipples from now on," but first, we get the Psycho pinup - censored, OK, but it's only a filler, so you might as well get paid, especially with an uncensored version in the rant - but then the shower scene is just so blatantly meant to have nipples, all I could think was, "you can't take the hit this one time...?"

Some misunderstanding here?

Ma3 was never a PG-13 comic with no nudity...

It just seems that today, you have exactly two choices, at least when it comes to imagery:

- Comic is at worst PG-13 - you get normal ads.

- Comic does show nudity - you get nothing but porn ads which are often much "harder" than the actual comic (see Bloomin' Fairies).

there is always a third option if you play your cards right with a big enough fan base. Popular comic book crews could launch bi yearly Kickstarter projects scaled just large enough to cover operation of the site without ads. In addition rabid fan bases could also purchase fan club subscriptions.

I've updated the FAQ since I'm tired of all the "The comic will surely end soon." comments that keep popping up

Let's see if anyone reads it.

I suggest adding a refinement to the “Where have all the nipples gone?” question:

Q: But the comic keeps showing multi-way sex, other non-standard practices, drunk sex, and other stuff that I find weird! Do the advertisers really only care about nipples?
A: Yes.
Q: What?
A: Pixietrix are not responsible for the simple-minded rules imposed by advertisers. If you find them weird, you probably have a point, but there’s nothing anyone here can do about them. Please don’t bother complaining about them.

Is the forum lagging for anyone else while trying to type a message? I'm getting a 3-5 second delay for when I type to when it appears onscreen. It's really annoying.
