What I'm wondering is why Gary is so glum. The only thing we've seen of his day so far is Zii taking pictures of him sleeping; that's not bad enough for him to get so gloomy.

Yeah. Gary really loved that poster. Dillon could have just asked to barrow it, to "get ideas for a drag performance" or something.

First of all, he could have said just about anything. Just off the top of my head: "Could you take the poster down because Amber Amber is coming here to visit and she's kind of sensitive about the whole porno "thing". By the way! Don't tell Zii! Amber is Zii's old friend from high-school and she wants it to be a surprise!"

It's possible that Dillon is trying to get rid of the poster before a possible Amber visit... I'm holding out that Dillon's epiphany at the play is going to hold...

This is what I was thinking. Amber didn't seem too proud of being a pornstar two strips ago, and this does make the most make sense.

Wait, so the majority of people weren't offended with the idea of Zii using sex and a stalker-ish attitude in the pursuit of revenge for being insulted on the internet and Dillon doing something that's probably for Gary's own good and THAT'S getting under people's skin?

I didn't take sides on the Zii thing, the concepts fit her character even if I think it's going overboard. This is just a freakin' poster. A large photo. Dillon doesn't look like he's being malicious, he looks like he's acting while carrying out his plan to get rid of said poster, and Lita looks like she's in on it; "Mrrrrrnow?"

I'm of the opinion that he's doing it for good reasons and that even if he wasn't it's just a stupid poster.




That all said, I love the way Lita talks by mrowling out the one word she's going to say. My favorite is when she's sitting on the bed with Gary and Dillon and rolls out "Myaoi?"

My first thought on reading this strip was that somehow, Dillon was going to twist this wrecking of Gary's poster into getting to meet Amber. After all, he knows how much Gary is a fan of Amber's *cough* "body of work" in the adult film industry. Also, Amber also seems to have a very positive impression of Gary, which at first I thought might've been simply because Dillon is still very much mooning over Gary. But perhaps with this new evidence, Dillon is attempting to do something nice for Gary and get them to meet one another.

That was my first thought. But on reading the ideas of others in this thread, I have to admit that since Amber and Dillon have become rather close it might be natural to perhaps invite her over to visit his place when he's fairly certain Zii isn't around. Since he doesn't have a room of his own, he'll show her the one he kinda shares with Gary - and having a picture of her topless taped to the door would definitely put a krimp in their friendship. And being Dillon, he didn't think of a better way to get rid of the poster than to fake Lita shredding it.

I am really, really starting to feel badly for Gary. He's become a very "Charlie Brown" sort of figure, in which life is the chaos all around him that he mostly tolerates but rarely enjoys. There are a few up points, but for the most part he's the Butt Monkey of this comic.

I think Dillon is doing this for the good. Slowly prepare things for amber and get rid of Gary's HURR DURR DERP! reaction to her [and most sexual situation and to his mind, just seeing amber in person would break his mind in that manner]

and man. if for nothing else. I love this for Lita's multiple Expressions of "what the hell you talkin about foo'?

The whole "getting back at Gary for objectifying his new friend" explanation makes the most sense to me, given current circumstances. I think he's over his crush on Gary for the most part.

Then again, he DID talk to Amber about Gary. As far as Amber knows, Dillon is still crushing on him big time, but has yet to work up the courage to ask him to go all the way. It's possible that Dillon still has feelings for Gary, but is now aware that the feeling isn't mutual, and he kinda laments that.

I guess the only way to know for sure what Dillon's up to is to see Thursday's comic.

*lifts an eyebrow* Okay I'm willing to hold out and see Dillions motivation for the poster wrecking...however...

He is still wrecking someone else's "property" on purpose, and for all he knows that could be a one of a kind poster or a rare to find one given Gary's collector habits. Regardless of reason you DO-NOT-WRECK/DESTROY- OTHER PEOPLES-STUFF!!! No matter the reason it is rude! Even if he's got some overelaborate plan to get Gary a new one, or a chance to meet Amber (which yet remains to be seen), he's still arbitraily destroying something that belongs to someone else. If that was my poster, Dillion would find me in his face shoving the cat into his arms and telling him to either get out of the house, or at the very least my personal space for the next several hours, I'd take payback for the poster out of his hide!

If he destroyed the poster out of some obligation because Amber's trying to leave her porno past behind, I'd still deck him if it was my poster. He could ASK, or explain, instead he wrecked something of Gary's for whatever reason with clear intent to do so. Also if he did destroy the poster for such a reason, then he's an idiot!! Amber is sadly going to NEVER put her porno past down as every video she made is licensed to a distributor that is damn well gonna circulate it for mad money, especially since she's out of the biz and videos of porno actors no long in the biz usually garner a good buyers market. One poster won't erase the past, and even if Gary's room was filled with nothing but her porn works and he destroyed them, it won't erase her face is all over DVD's in some adult video shop!

The only thing I can see making the follow up strip absolutely BS, is if Gary buys the lame "the cat got away from me" bit or he doesn't get angry enough that his personal property was balantly destroyed that Dillion regrets the decsion regardless of motive!!


I remember one time three friends of a friend of mine wanted to get the one friend a super-special edition of a toy/model he had, and one of them had the bright idea they could enhance the gift's appeal if his original was trashed. Suffice to say despite they had the special version of the toy/model ready to go, when my friend put two and two together that the three genius's purposefully destroyed his property, he was livid, furious and bloody angerier than hell since he worked and save alot of cash (for a 12yr old anyway) to buy the original. They're quick to bring out the replacement, but he's still mad, citing he could have BOTH and keep one in the box for collector's purposes and have one out to dick around with. Instead they destroyed something he spent weeks saving up to buy, all because they thought some stupid cartoon/sitcom gag would make it alright.

A stretch of a comparison but either way, you do not destroy someone's property regardles sof motive, it's just not cool, rude, and stupid.

Plus overall, given how good Gary's been to Dillion, he does NOT deserve any grief, or BS from Dillion, and for a geek like Gary wrecking his stuff is a potential berserk button.
