But "everyone has sex with everyone else" isn't especially funny, and isn't generally how this comic operates.

Maybe it woldn't be funny, but it sure would be fun. And Gary walking in on them could lead to all kinds of funny -which is how this comic works ;)

And thanks for the height references, wiseguy. Somehow I've gotten used to seeing Didi as Zii sees her, but Zii and Yuki (and Sandra!) are a lot shorter than Gary and Sonya. Probably Didi has been shown with shorter characters like Zii and Sandra more than with taller characters like Gary.

Hell, a confrontation with his parents might be one thing that could convince Gary that he has freedom to choose, and a moral obligation to exercise it. For all his problems, I'll bet that he likes his life these days better than anything he's ever had before. Threaten him with regression to his old existence, and he might just get his act together enough to say "No - I'm going to be who I choose to be."

Or he might just end up back on the farm, and have to be rescued by a team of black-clad commando nymphomaniacs, temporarily united by a common cause.

I'll bet it's largely because of them that Gary's the milksop he is today, and moving away was probably the only way he could find to assert himself against them, being otherwise unable to confront them directly. If they show up on his doorstep, he'll almost certainly fold like Origami and be taken away. The various women who want him or at least like having him around would have to intervene to rescue him.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if you turned out to be right about that, I too suspect Gary isn't the most reliable narrator about his past; would be interesting if his parents visited just to see what they had to say about it. Though I do wonder about the humor about them being Not So Bad After All...

Maybe the running away was part of the rebelling. Often if you rebel against the rules of your social circle, you end up being ostracized or even ostracize yourself from that group, since you now have a lot less in common with them. If this former social circle lives all around you, ie you see them every day, you may find yourself needing to change addresses to properly distance yourself from them, especially if they don't leave you alone. Sure Gary said he moved to Montreal to further his art career, but who says that's his only reason?
