It's not actually usually that bad, if you go to the boring trouble of working it out. There've been a few chronological funnies, but mostly I think that G&D have a fairly coherent timeline set up. See my post on the subject after the last strip.

Haters gonna hate
Yuki thinks of Gary as more than just a swirly-maker, and she's still working on her problem. Direct from the horse's mouth.
So, doesn't that invalidate most of what people were complaining about? I guess there's just comic violence left to be up in arms about.

She sent him a text that read that she loves him. The beep is the confirmation it was sent.Spidrift wrote:Actually, can anyone who knows more Japanese then me work out whether Yuki is sending a text to Gary in the first frame, or receiving one, or what? If it's the latter, I'll guess it's a "We have to talk", sent as he heads home - but of course, Yuki has now been distracted from that...

Re: Another future prediction...
Actually, Zii and Sonya don't know just how little Gary is getting from Yuki. No sex just means that her problem is still active; Zii at least might feel a twinge of pity for Yuki. The fact that he's getting no affection would inspire Zii to give her a serious talking-to and Sonya to make her move in double time - if they but knew.RickSmith wrote:-- Sonya and Zii make the point that Gary is not getting anything from Ms Selfish.

Re: 17-11-12 Under his jeans
I may not like Yuki, but at least she asked the question that should have been asked a long ago. I just hope she takes the words seriously instead of dismissing them just because they come from Sonya. Seriously speaking she has a lot of redeeming to do if she wants to try still, but for any 'shippers' I'll be willing to admit this at least looks like she might have to try.
Though personally I'd say, Far too Little, and Far too Late for that. Given how Gary is though, eh well. Going to just have to wait and see, but I really want to see Sonya retaliate next time around and force a harsh realisation on Yuki just how she's been acting with Gary.
Let this be beginning of the end for Yuki.

Thanks. (Not a Japanese speaker, not a heavy text user...) If Gary gets this, it may cause him one of his many idiot "daw" moments - but he may be a bit distracted just now.tenchi13 wrote:She sent him a text that read that she loves him. The beep is the confirmation it was sent.

If he was leaning the other way, and he actually understands the text, he may feel a little guilty. It can't be easy to give the break up talk after receiving a love note. It's the first time she's said/wrote it, I believe.

You are obviously reading a different comic to the rest of us then. At no point does she say she is getting treatment, even off-camera so to speak.Thor wrote:Yuki thinks of Gary as more than just a swirly-maker, and she's still working on her problem. Direct from the horse's mouth.

Except this horse is bat crap crazy and thus an unreliable narrator.Thor wrote:Yuki thinks of Gary as more than just a swirly-maker, and she's still working on her problem. Direct from the horse's mouth
Pointless arguing is one of the three pillars upon which the Internet is built. The other two are of course cat pictures and porn.

This does not in any way invalidate the Yuki-hate, she didn't seem to even -consider- this at all anymore until Sonya shoved it down her throat and even then she tries to look for Zii for confirmation this doesn't make her a bad person.
When told it does, by Sonya, she retaliates by attacking her with a cowbell. While there might be some symbolical insult of Sonya being a cow there, I think she just reached out to throw something that was at hand. In which case, Zii's band has some funky weird instruments to them too.

Um...nope. She called her a cow, too. That's what the Japanese word means.
And oh lord kow-bong. I only just noticed that.

Quick note for those of you less fluent in Japanese, Daisuki means 'I love you'. It isn't as serious as I love you here though, in fact, it can just as easily be translated as 'I like you' depending on circumstance. Aishiteru is the for serious 'I am in love with you' confession. Daisuki can be just as easily a serious confession as a typical show of affection, something that the english language lacks. There's no alternative for I love you in our language, and those words are taken very seriously.tenchi13 wrote:She sent him a text that read that she loves him. Where does she say she's working on the problem, exactly? She acknowledges there is a problem, that much I'll grant, but only when pressed. I'm also willing to grant that as of this comic she does think of Gary as more than her little orgasm-slave, but that is how she was treating him for awhile, and that's pretty clearly how Gary feels she was treating him, too, so it's not just a product of the Yuki-haters' imagination.Thor wrote:Yuki thinks of Gary as more than just a swirly-maker, and she's still working on her problem. I am a Yuki-hater, of course, but this strip is an example of why I occasionally like her. She clearly feels affection for Gary, in her way, and she's sometimes self-aware enough to realize their relationship has problems, and that's a bad thing. If she acted like this more often than like a selfish psycho (non)hose-beast, she'd be likably or even charmingly annoying rather than infuriatingly so.
I also don't think not having been able to go any further with Gary makes her a bad person, though Sonya's "Yep" was friggin' hilarious. I do think the fact that Yuki hasn't even made a half-assed attempt to overcome her problems in a fair while does make her a bad person, or at least a bad girlfriend. If she'd rephrased the statement as "I've been letting/asking Gary to blow my mind on a regular basis but haven't shown him any real affection or worked on my problem at all..." I think Zii would've agreed with Sonya that yep, that makes Yuki a bad person.

Yeah, cause it's so easy to work on treating such a severe trauma all by yourself, especially when the one supposed to help get rid of it just disappear and the other one directly concerned (Gary) gives any sign that he's fine with the things are right now and does not give her any sense of urgency in treating it. At least, she seems conscious of the issue and her question regarding this making her bad show that she's not as selfish as most depict her. If she was, that idea wouldn't even cross her mind. And contrary to Sonya, I don't think that make her a bad person. But that make her a bad girlfriend, though if Gary was less obedient, things might not be so dire.
But eh, haters gonna hate, as they say.
I'm more putt off with Sonya, actually. Not because she says that to Yuki, don't care about it, but because she so set on Gary. Kiley had her confess that she was in love with Zii, not Gary, and she did make every effort to get Zii until she heard Yuki and Gary having some fun together. Now, she's not even trying to get Zii anymore ? If she just need to get laid, Zii is right here and Sonya almost successed in making her have sex with her, so wouldn't she try harder, ignoring Yuki ?
Seems to me she act only on petty jealousy and ego here, wanting Gary only because she don't want Yuki to have him, and so "win" their petty little contest. Wonder who's the bad person here, in the end.

If only Yuki went out like a spinal tap drummer. She still can't even say penis...lots of progress!
