I'm honestly amazed that not one person has commented on the Kim Possible reference, which, given the amount of fanlove for the non-canon pairing of Kim and Shego, I assume was a girl/girl porno. I could see Chanelle as Shego, or whatever sexual parody they would give her. I assume you mean Pahrump, which is as close as a legal brothel can get to Clark County. I'm from Vegas and there is no legal prostitution there. It's only legal in a few rural counties and the sex workers have to actually live on the premises of the brothel for a certain number of days out of the month. It's a pretty shitty situation for the workers with how thoroughly their lives are controlled. Thanks to deals between the brothel management and local sheriffs, they're virtual prisoners and can't go to local casinos or bars or associate with local men off the clock. In some cases, they're forced to leave the county when they aren't actively working and their cars have to be registered with the police so they can be tracked. In other places, they can't own cars at all.

I can imagine there are porn niches that are worse than that, but the Nevada system is awful and I feel bad for anyone caught in it. You know things are corrupt when activists who are pro-sex work and anti-sex work agree that a place sucks.

I am of the opinion that Gary did NOT get off. And if this is true can we just complement him on his progress? I don't think Gary got off, but that shouldn't be too big of an issue. The whole reason Gary went over there was because he could no longer view Amber as just a sexual object since he had met her as a person. But now Amber the person has shown interest in him. The assumption amongst the majority here seems to be that Gary climaxed as soon as Chanelle's lips touched him. I don't necessarily see it that way. His shock in the third panel could simply be that a favourite porn star of his has decided to give him a bj.

I'm gonna assume that the 'boner' in that last panel is just supposed to be the fold of his shirt/ the way he's holding his clothes(Giz has never placed any boners in the comic before - and Lord knows there's been plenty of times that such things should have been visible, and the curve looks a little awkward to be an erect penis poking through material - unless Gary is naturally crooked like that).

I don't know about "awesome" (silly overused word), but it's got a hell of a lot more interesting. I mean, he still has huge problems, but they're a much better class of problem. He's gone from someone with no hope, no girlfriend, and no fun, to someone with an insane girlfriend, who's getting unexpected sexual offers from porn stars, suggestive mail from international lingerie models, and job offers (with a hideous built-in catch) from his artistic hero, and who has been actively encouraged to grope the sex goddess of Montreal.

I'm not at all sure that he'd trade in his current life for his old one. If he can just break the habit of self-pity and take an objective look at himself ... well, the biggest risk might be that he becomes a smug jerk.

I think that these last couple of strips have mostly been here to give the thread a comedy punchline, but it's just possible that this final event is supposed to be what finally pushes Gary over some kind of edge into seriously thinking of dumping Yuki. I mean, the offer from Amber could have been a one-off fluke, but getting called "stud" and receiving oral attentions from Chanelle Numberfine as well? it might just sink in with Gary that he has adequate stakes to play a few hands in the casino of love.

(Oh yeah, Chanelle's surname. We can now count the days before some wazzock here takes offence at the cut of Chanelle's jib and starts referring to her as "Numberfine" in forum posts.)

No clue, honestly, she didn't say where exactly she worked, and we're talking a few years ago now. I'm hoping that she has moved on by now. I just remember her talking about the porn industry and how much she preferred working as a professional prostitute rather than working in porn. She didn't make life as a prostitute sound glamorous or anything, though I did get the impression she was glad to talk to someone who didn't judge her for what she does or did.
