Re: 25-02-17 Capitalizing on the distraction
To be fair, threads used to be 10 pages long consistently because most threads were shouting matches about the arc, morals of the characters, realism, crimes, etc. We cant even talk about most of those older threads, and there is a graveyard of banned users that Don broke several wood chippers to achieve.
Now the threads manage to limit all of that to around 3 pages. Progress.

Is the pillow fight a private party, or can everyone join in?

As far as humor, I liked this strip. And I can't complain about the fanservice. Does it forward the plot? Well, noooo...

That's something else I like. A throwaway gag every one in a while is fun. But people seem to hate that too
Pointless arguing is one of the three pillars upon which the Internet is built. The other two are of course cat pictures and porn.

If that's what you're hoping for - you appear to have missed the fact that there hasn't been any full nudity in the regular strips here for years. On the other hand, we've had EC characters nude in Kickstarter bonus art, so that's probably where you should pin your hopes for pics of nekkid EC girlies.vampire hunter D wrote:Any chance we'll see Gwynn in the showers? You know, since we cant have Tiffy full on nude
Throwaway gags are basically fine, although it helps if they're funny. But this is more of a snippet from the fictional wrestling story-within-the-story, plus a semi-passable one-panel gag - so it's part of the thing that some people round here don't like, and it doesn't even move that forward much.vampire hunter D wrote:That's something else I like. Re: 25-02-17 Capitalizing on the distraction
Really I think people are just reacting the way they would if they were being trolled. There's nothing really wrong with these strips, it's just that Didi and Kiley are right on the edge of some character development, and Zii and Gary are off somewhere in a similar situation. Those are the stories we're dying to see, but we're being made to wait, watching characters that ultimately don't matter.
It'd be like if we were watching an episode of The Flash, and Barry and Kaitlyn are in his house on the couch getting dangerously close to ripping each other's clothes off, and over in another scene the Trickster has his finger on a button that's going to turn Central City into a crater... But we've cut over to a scene involving extras we know we're never going to see again doing something unrelated to either story. Yeah maybe it's funny or something, but we were about to get Kaitlyn naked! Come on, get us back to what we care about, or at minimum show us more Mark Hamill being awesome.

That's pretty much it. The jump back to the wrestling arc seemed kind of tolerable when it at least seemed to be about the ongoing DiDi/Kiley plot, but now it's slumped back into more bloody redneck-theatre-with-boring-expies. I'm not sure if we're consciously being trolled, or whether one of the writing team is so obsessed with pro wrestling that they think writing imaginary pro wrestling is somehow cool.

You sir have been derpived for too long if you saw some fan service in this exact strip.Lokitsu wrote:As far as humor, I liked this strip. And I can't complain about the fan service. Does it forward the plot? Well, noooo...
Last strip had none either.
Is it just me or has fan service been dumbed down? Used to be nudity or upskirt shots. Now someone gets a lil side boob or girl-on-girl fully clothed and they cream themselves?

Or, has fan service merely become more refined?

Re: 25-02-17 Capitalizing on the distraction
Does fanservice mean nudity and sex, or does it mean any stuff designed purely to service the fans? Because I guess that all the EC expies are designed to tickle the ... fancies ... of some fans, so maybe they're "fanservice".
Personally, I think that the term should be limited to the actual T&A stuff, because otherwise (almost) everything is fanservice. But I can't quibble with people who quibble semantics. Because not that hypocritical.
