I know I'm really late to this party, but I finally got around to watching Last Airbender for the first time starting last weekend, and just finished today. Once again I've discovered that the worst part of falling in love with a show after it's ended is, well, reaching the end. The finale was great, but now I'm sad that there aren't any more episodes featuring Aang and the crew.
Will start Korra later this week.

So apparently when I said "later this week" I meant "later today." I wanted to know more about this world, so I figured why wait?
My impressions after the first few episodes is that it's different, but not necessarily in a bad way. I wasn't expecting the technological advance, but only because most fantasy worlds stay in a medieval stasis, and I do find the magic/tech juxtaposition interesting as far as story potential is concerned. On the other hand Last Airbender drew me in pretty quickly because I've always loved quest/journey type stories, while urban adventures have never been my thing, and man-in-the-mask mysteries frustrate me because I'm no good at figuring them out.
The characters are interesting, though, and I'm glad that Korra's path won't just be a repeat of Aang's. I miss the craziness of the old gang, but the show is still fun so far.

Well 5 minutes in you see Kid-Korra yelling "I'm the Avatar! You gotta DEAL WITH IT!" While shooting fire and rocks all over the place. Pretty big difference in personality from Aang.

I managed to get through all of
Korra this week. I don't feel that it was as enjoyable for me as
Airbender on the whole, as far as the story is concerned.
Airbender had that overarching quest for the entire series, with the finale wrapping up everything that had come before it.
Korra was four separate stories with the development of the characters being the main continuing theme, which I guess wasn't quite as satisfying for me.
The finale:
I haven't been paying any attention to Avatar related news, so I was wondering: Are we really looking at the end of Avatar here, or is there a chance for more in the future? Like an animated movie or a new series?

there will be comics i heard
and in the end, what korra is about is maintaining spiritualism and inner growth in an age of industrial and scientific progress.
Which, of all people, is represented by a certain industrialist.
