they had a bad happened of spawning in the air a bit away off the rails and board walks and would fall to their death.
it happened to the sheriff because every morning he stands on the narrow ledge at the topmost of his house's balcony to survey his people.
I did respawn him though. the wonders of the PC.

I've actually heard npcs and followers in Skyrim can sometime disappear into the voidzone or fall through the floor. The only time i experienced that was with a deadthrall follower where i entered a building in Winterhold while the game considered me in combat with an ancient dragon. (I hadn't seen it though).

Not Skyrim, but almost everyone I knew who played New Vegas understands this one.

my Lion lady disapeared once, i reloaded to a few hours back to get her back. Same thing with dragons flying above and entering buildings.
the craziest bug is to do with marriage.
If you have a dead follower...and for most people this was lydia.. and then married someone...her corpse would randomly fall from the cieling into the middle of the temple and the marriage ceremony would be ruined with everyone behaving like you rejected the marriage or stood the bride or groom up.

I've never married anyone in Skyrim, yet.
I still haven't gotten around to actually finish the main quest. I get easily sidetracked and just end up exploring the world. >_>;
