"801" is supposed to represent a class number.

Yaoi 801 is presumably more advanced than Yaoi 101.

Grad level Yaoi? Or would that require four digit class numbers? I think it would.

Unless the system your school uses for undergrad courses is already a four digit system.

But that doesn't go with the old 101 trope.

The basic explaination is that by separating the numbers "8 - 0 - 1" and using alternate Japanese pronunciations for them, you get the word "yaoi."

8 = "ya"
0 = "o"
1 = "i"-chi
