I still don't think she went the expensive route, or the obviously expensive one. Still not sure what she might have bought or done that still say it is homemade. Though maybe it is expensive in that instead of cloth she uses silk or vermeil instead brass and copper.

Well homemade is homemade even if it cost a few million to make instead of a few bucks right?

The more I think about it the more a locket makes sense to me. Something with her picture inside and some inscription of her feelings, a poem she wrote herself or something.
