Why do I get the feeling that Nina can pass that test easily, leaving the Hex girls confounded at the prospect of someone so "uncool" joining the group? :ymdevil:

Good prediction!! The other two girls run out, never to be seen again... Minutes later, Nina emerges, and the code of witchy misconduct will force the Hex sisters to take her into their club.

Okay, who called that they'd be doused by Nina-ness? :-?

Well, Nina does have the advantage of being far to cheerful/innocent/oblivious to be scared easily. :))

As per the lore, Vampires aren't supposed to have reflections.

Maybe the mirror is magical, Layla has one on the inside of her locker. And I've heard about cameras with special film that's treated to let vampires appear in the photo. Anyway, what is she doing in the room with the girls anyway. She couldn't be friends with the coven already, could she?

Are these two girls supposed to be witches, too? Because I can't really see anything unnatural about them. They seem totally normal in every way, aside from the fact that they actually go to that school.

Also, those jackets the girls have to wear look more uncomfortable every time I see them.

There really is no such thing as 'as per the lore' - there are hundreds of different types of vampires, both legendary and fictional, and the only thing particularly universal for them is drinking blood. No two versions are precisely the same, even those derived from the same source.

'No reflection' is a trait existing in some European myths and carrying through to Dracula and some works based on it, but that's far from universal. Even in works it would be expected in, it, like an aversion to religious symbols, is frequently absent from modern stories. Between mixing it up just to make things harder for the heroes (if anyone who'd read Dracula could detect and defeat the vamp easily, it'd be far less interesting) and the idea being kind of ridiculous - they're physical beings that can be seen by the eye, so of course they have reflections, barring some other factor removing them - it's kind of a no-brainer to drop that one.

In the case of this strip, not only have we seen no indication that that particular 'tell' is possessed by EC-verse vamps, but we've seen a mirror in the Delacroix home, making the chances rather better than even that it's not.

Just for a further example, one could argue that 'as per the lore', vampires have no particular weakness to sunlight - sunlight being fatal is not a trait that any mythical vampire I know of has (many go dormant during the day, but that's it), none of the influential fictional vampires of the 19th century suffered it - neither Varney nor Carmilla suffers any problems, save the fact that they prefer to be nocturnal, Dracula merely has his supernatural powers taken away when he goes strolling midday... It wasn't until Nosferatu that the sunlight became fatal - and some even there argue that Ellen's willing self-sacrifice is an important part of what killed Orlok, not just the sunlight. And even post-Nosferatu, it's used or ignored to different extents by different works - some have no issue, some take extended exposure to die (stronger or weaker vampires needing more, depending on the universe), some go back to Dracula's powerlessness, some are just made uncomfortable.
I swear I will, I'll make you smile.

Yes, Nina has a reflection, but the "vampires have no reflection" thing is kind of silly anyway.
Also, I wonder if these girls will be so scared that they drop their disguising glamers if they are monsters. Or if they are just a really unlucky pair of muggles who happen to go to this school? Do monsters have "squibs" (i.e. kids of monster parents that have no powers)?
Perhaps these two are just more harmless mythical creatures then the average monster like exceptionally cute kobolds or brownies or gnomes or something. There are any number of possibilities.

Either way, I foresee the coven being angry at Nina for spoiling their fun, and Nina being cheerfully obvious. :)

I think I remember saying in the previous thread that those 3 popular girls are high and mighty in the school and that by the end of the chapter Nina will have knocked them down a few notches.

Just found it:

Actually not all vampiric creatures drink blood. There's one in..Malaysia I think. It's head and spine seperate from from it's body and flies around drinking spinal fluid.
