It just covered the hallways. Any rooms with doors that were closed were clean (e.g. http://www.eeriecuties.com/d/20100203.html ). From this we can assume that many girls were safe while some were probably being chased around just as our protagonists were (though perhaps at a lower concentration as Chloe was the most pursued because she was the source), they just likely didn't show up in the strip because, frankly, they weren't as interesting as the fight between Layla and Brooke. I think that (sort of) clarifies things.

What isn't clear for me though is when Ace was first pelted with that one heart, he became attracted to Chloe. I don't get the flip that makes it so the ones who are covered (Layla and Brooke) are the ones who are found attractive; if that was the case, when Ace was first pelted, guys would have been chasing him around (I am not opposed to this). The only way I can rationalize it is that the rules of the succubus heart-powder-pheromone-stuff change when they detonate atomic bomb style. Ideas?

Actually, it was most likely due to an unwritten litterary rule dubbed "character maximum" (or for the geeky, charactius Maximus) Basically, a story really only goes so far with introducing new characters, and usually those are only ones that are either main or supporting characters. Background characters only show up when the main and/or supporting characters are present. (i.e. the zom-boy horde, though I noticed that the male teachers were strangely missing)

@Ronin, nah, souls are a dime a dozen, so to speak, unfortunately each with its own sort of personality. The real problem is putting a soul back in. After all, if there is that much "spirit energy" around, why isn't there more "life?" The same reason something can't be "brought" back to life. It takes a specific series of events to join a "body" and a "soul." Though oddly that presendence holds no barrier to possesion, but then again all possesion is pupetry in a spiritual sense.
