That's something I do wonder about actually.
Is that 14 years human or 14 years race X equivalent?
I mean Chloe, for instance, is a succubus, provided she isn't killed or starves to death, then she should live pretty much forever, considering that demons don't die of old age and all that.

Same applies to Vampires..

No idea about Melusines, but probably something similar.

Werewolves on the other hand do grow older and die from old age.

Or to use another analogy. An elf that is the equivalent of a 14 year old human might be as old as say 40 in actual human years. So what's the deal with the critters in this school?

There's no actual indication that I recall that these critters even have superhuman lifespans (since the vampires are reproducing sexually it's obvious that Our Vampires Are Different). In any case, while different life cycles could explain Nina's maturity level, it would be odd if they were giving their ages in "dog-years".

Nina has already said that her father is much older than any normal human could survive. So I'm thinking it's regular aging process until a certain point. What point? Whatever point is most convenient for the artist to convey a character in relation to the other characters

In Whitley Streiber's The Hunger, true vampires are functionally immortal (though vulnerable to injury) and reproduce sexually, though such births are very rare -- making pandas look profligate rare. Of course not all vampires are true vampires.

Hehe, I just read that trilogy some months back. All in all pretty good, though I had some serious problems with continiutiy issues.
