Hmmmm... Serious Business.

Hell, it makes about as much sense as any other ancient blood feud. ;)

I've suddenly got this picture of grade school Nina being told by her nanny that she can't "play with the puppy boys because they dug up Count Brown's begonias many years ago." And Nina, the overly innocent that she is, still believes it. [-(

Why, next thing you know, she's gonna learn that the Easter Bunny does not bring her prey every morning. :-o

This one holds a special meaning for me.

When I ran a Victorian Age Vampire game set in 1872 New Orleans I had an elder vampire get into a feud with one of the player characters because he ruined her begonias. Fortunately for him she was an absent-minded sort (Malkavian, for those of you who play White Wolf games), and didn't always remember. But if anyone mentioned begonias it would set her off again and she'd go after the guy with an umbrella or anything else that happened to be handy. Made a fine running gag.

Since Contemporary Pulp Horror & Tabletop Role-Playing continuities started the trend.

Kind of how Centaurs stopped being all-male, marauding, Greek equivalents of Orcs after Fantasia and The Chronicles of Narnia started an earlier trend.
