I already asked the same question when Kade was first introduced and we didn't really know what he was. I remember someone saying Giz has a penchant for deconstructing tropes, so I think that won't be the situation here.

Also, falling in love with a mortal enemy makes for kinda bittersweet story, and I don't think it would suit the comic's light tone...
