Well, there goes my hope that boy-Teddy would return at the end, or that both Chloe and Naomi would get a version of Teddy for themselves... Oh, well, I guess that would have been too good to happen.

Time to voice an unpopular opinion. Brace yourselves.

I think this comic has been brilliant.

Let me qualify that before you fly into a key clacking frenzy, okay?

There are a lot—and I mean a LOT—of anime and manga about a succubus falling in love with a human. Just, so many. If you factor the hentai in, there might be a metric shit-ton of them. It is thoroughly explored ground.

All of the ones that end happily have one thing in common: The succubus always changes herself to suit her human lover. She becomes monogamous for him, or magically transforms onto a human, or something along those lines.

In other words, they’re all about, “How must the succubus change in order to love a human?” This is the only one I’ve ever even heard of that comes at it from the other direction. How must the human change to love a succubus?

So, thank you, Dave and Jason, for giving us something different in this crowded genre.

It’s an interesting question, by the way. Seriously, put yourself in that position. Say you wanted to be the twue wuv of a succubus.

Now, your knee-jerk reaction is to say, “I wouldn’t!” And you’d be right! This is a terrible idea for all sorts of reasons, you should reconsider! Plenty of fish in the sea and all, especially in this universe.

But let’s say you’ve set yourself on this path and there’s just no changing your mind. You are going to love a succubus. And not just any succubus, a virgin! Let’s also say that you have decided it would be wrong to ask your succubus girlfriend to radically change herself to suit your needs. What would you need to be, yourself, to make this work?

You’d need to be...

#1: Indestructible
If you’re gonna go whole hog on this and insist on being her first, by this universes’ rules you need to be invincible. Able to withstand *both* her ravenous hunger and the unholy violence of the act of coupling. So you need to be a demigod at minimum. (A werewolf might also pull it off. They have demonstrated having plenty of life force to spare. It’s unclear if they’d survive the physical act, though. If they follow standard werewolf rules they can’t die to anything other than silver, so, maybe...? I dunno how they work in this universe as far as that goes.)

#2: Polyamorous
Or good with a vixen/stag relationship, at minimum. Your succubus girlfriend is not gonna be monogamous for you. She has a job to do, and that job is having demonic lust sex with lots and lots of men. She’s purpose-designed by the forces of evil for this role, it’s unrealistic and selfish to ask her to change so fundamentally for you. So, you need to be good with her doing what she was born to do. Oh and by the way, just about all of the men she’s gonna do this with are going to die horribly. Which brings us to...

#3: Morally Bankrupt
You’re basically placing yourself into the loving embrace of a sexual serial killer, here. There’s just no getting around that. She’s literally going to be coming home every night with blood on her hands, it’s her job. You need to be okay with this.

It is worth noting that if you have gained mastery of #2 and #3, there, and you’re good with letting a bunch of randoes take the heat of her virginity rage, you can skip #1. It probably wouldn’t hurt to look into some manner of supernatural enhancement to yourself anyway, unless you want to live your life on the cusp of death by soul draining.

I bring all this up because if you look at it through that lens, the comic has been what it needed to be. Teddy had to reach this place where he’s a morally flexible polyamorous deity, because loving a succubus *won’t work any other way.* Their relationship now has a real chance, whereas before it would have been over the first time Chloe came home covered in human entrails.

Does the comic have flaws? Absolutely. The big one for me is how absent Chloe is, when you consider that it’s her name in the title. But overall it has been a new take on the succubus what-if, and I’ve enjoyed it.

I wonder how many pages are left? What’s left to wrap up?

...Ugh. Did this comic finally give up all pretense of story and just become a lecture?

All of the ones that end happily have one thing in common: The succubus always changes herself to suit her human lover.
Not remotely true. More often than not the monster girl remains a monster. Because that's the kink.

With the whiplash rollercoaster plot-derailing going on these days I have a hard time deciding whether to take this new revelation seriously or not ... I'll be hiding in my pillowfort until 1st of April is over, then emerging again and hoping to find out that this strip was just fallout from that particular date...

My latest theory is that the Pixie Trix team is disgusted with the whole magic / supernatural genre, and are intentionally writing this as badly as possible to forestall any fan requests that they write more of it. And it's too bad, as I am enjoying the artwork associated with the comics.
I Don't think Giz is quite out on the genre yet. It's possible Dave has checked out though, and as Jason took over drawing duties from Cassandra since she left I don't know how he feels about doing another himself :-??

Given how mind numbing idiotic Chloe has been over the last several years (and given Teddy desire to be a chick happened prior to April 1) - no, pretty sure this face palming monstrosity is canon.

Now it's just a matter of whether they'll bother tying up loose ends (namely, explaining where Alchemy went and exactly what did Abby exchange in order to get her new physiology/are they going to bother reversing it?)

I don't know what would be worse: if this is an April Fools joke and the comic's gone to the dogs so much we can't tell the difference... or it's not, and Dave legitimately thinks this is a satisfying way to wrap up this comic.

I consider myself rather well read in the succubus/human manga romance department, so I'll note that there are a few other routes that get explored in some of them. Namely:

1. No real changes have to take place. The succubus has no particular desire to not stick with one guy, it's just been impossible to do until she met the main character. In such cases he (for one reason or another) will either have tremendous innate energy for her to feed on, or his energy will be uniquely tasty/compatible to her in such a way that she need only feed on him to get everything she requires and thanks to their compatibility there is little to no risk of her overdoing things.
2. A succubus finds a man she wants to stay with in a monogamous or semi-monogamous relationship, and instead of changing herself she changes his body using magical or other means to become capable of handling her without risk to his health (this may be a rapid change or it may take time and devoted effort from the succubus to make him the "perfect" man for her). Most commonly seen is the guy becoming able to endure superhuman pleasure better than he could before, and producing more energy than he could otherwise.

My feelings exactly.
It could be just a joke, especially since in previous comic Teddy was obviously embarrassed by sharing something he/she would probably not share was not for being ordered to tell the truth, and today he/she is in full "i love cocks! lol!" mode.
On the other hand, it's nothing that much different from what we before saw in all pixietrix comics - they all have underlining sex-positive message. It's just that before we had subtle nudging, and today we have tremendous whack with a hammer: "Its not enough for true love for you to be okay with her screwing other guys. You also need to bang them yourself!"
