I thought I had when I said that we were giving it more thought than the authors.

The problem with the Maxim is that while it's a good reminder that things aren't produced in an ideal environment but are subject to all manners of pressures it can also be used to justify or defend slopping thinking and second rate work. There is a big difference between people who try but have to compromise for reasons outside their control and those who either are genuinely bad at their jobs or couldn't really be bothered in the first place.

Yeah, but — the way to deal with such works is to point out that they’re second-rate, and then walk away. It doesn’t achieve anything to examine them ever more closely and complain ever louder about the patterns you find in the noise.

Except that sometimes even the second rate can be enjoyable sometimes. And since I've been following this comic since the first strip it's hard to walk away before the conclusion which can't be that far away now.

And some of the discussion can be fun too. Which I'd imagine you'd agree to since you've posted on the Pixietrix forums at an average rate of around 2000 posts a year.

I draw a very large distinction between the Ma3-universe material and DC.

I appreciate that. In fact it's in part the quality of MA3 that makes the turn DC took so disappointing. But my observatioon was more about the enjoyment that could be had from a forum rather than a comment on the respective quality of the comics or assuming an equal fandom on your part.

There are things worth arguing about, analysing, or riffing off, and things that aren’t worth the electrons. And yes, I have just spent more time on the DC board than it deser

If the story starts out promising - which this one did - and then goes down the proverbial toilet, it's kind of hard to simply walk away from it - and walking away does nothing but silence the criticism and surrounds the author with nothing but positive feedback; which helps, what, exactly?

A reader who has spent years investing time to read something has every right to voice their irritation with how a once decent plot went sour; but - in the end - it's up to the writer if they want to listen to the criticism or say 'to Hell with what they say!' and continue down whatever path they're set on. But just because the writer chooses to ignore the criticism doesn't mean the critics should just be quiet and/or leave.

Or keep in mind it's just a webcomic and really just relax.

Discussion about the plot, story arcs, and overall writing can be interesting, but since so much of it seems to be tied to an aversion to sexual activity and fan service I just don't bother with most of the discussions on this thread.

I still enjoy this webcomic while others just hate read and pretend that they're being good critics. To each their own.
