New Strip! Abby might be willing to join in Alchemy's plan to leave town with Teddy for a few days... for a small price.

So Abbey becoming a succubus was her calling all along.

Kinda weird, since she was previously upset at the thought of Teddy running away from home.

That was before she got angry at Teddi over Chloe and Pandora leaving.

Oh a strip with Abby.

That automatically makes it bad.

Well if she can't morph into her seductive form Abby still knows her old tricks.

Cringe.

Abby needs to stop objectifying the reaper.

The "joke" appears to be that Abby likes looking at muscular men without their shirts on and Kimmy is too stupid to realise it.

Quality stuff eh!

It wasn't exactly side splitting back in the 60s and 7os when it was men tricking women into partially undressing and age hasn't really improved it.

You mean, you demand that Abby should have behaved in a mature way?

Abby didn't need to behave in a mature way.

There was plenty of scope to take the strip down another line altogether had the writer chosen to. Like Kimmy reacting in some way other than "the look suits you" when told that Abby is now a succubus. Or Abby asking "why do we need to leave town?" rather than going along with Kimmy's plan to upend her life just so she could see him with his top off.

That's two far more organic and plausible things that you might expect Kimmy and Abby to react to and both offering plenty of scope for humour. Instead we get a joke roughly equivalent to somebody pretending to drop their pencil on the floor to try to look up somebody's skirt.

It does do a good work of illustrating Abby's current mindset, though.

But do we need to know anything more about Abby's mindset? Her character is pretty well established by now and this strip adds nothing to that. It might not seem so jarring if it hadn't followed a few strips where the plot seemed to be developing in an ominous way to a joke about Kimmy being too stupid to realise that he's been tricked into being eye candy for Abby.

We've gone from the drama of Kimmy discovering that there's about to be a catastrophic loss of life and seeing Teddi in some kind of altered state to Abby getting her rocks off ogling Kimmy for no obvious reason other than to get a very cheap laugh.

I think Al is just playing along because he knows time is of the essence and whatever gets Abby and Teddy moving is what's important. Al doesn't want to explain anymore than he has to because, once again, he's violating the rules by attempting to guarantee the safety of people he knows are at risk. The less attention he draws, the better for everyone so he's doing what's necessary to get a little bit of cooperation from Abby. Unfortunately, it's very little cooperation. Her's not stupid, just very pressed for time.
