Hmm, the irony clause that prevents happiness just kicked in. This should make the Abby haters happy. This may be part of her sucubus shape shifting powers. If she now sees herself as a 12 year old she may have reverted back to that form.

If the belt fell down what's keeping her shorts up, other than censors?

A couple of interpretations could be found: Abby's subconscious desire to want to fit in by staying with her peers, therefore look her actual age, is causing her powers to shapeshift her body back to normal; there is some off-screen voodoo-like manipulation by Slash-stab; or it could be some clause in the contract is taking away her succubus power because she learned her lesson about wanting to grow up too early?
The last one seems too benevolent, so I'm leaning towards it being her inner desires affecting her powers, which she has little to no conscious control over to begin with.

While it is some interesting character development, it is a bit like having a major story arc centred around Scrappy Doo.

I just think that subconsciously she wanted to look like normal Abby at that moment, Chloe told her that since her shape shifting powers came abruptly, she didn't know how to use them, succubi receive them slowly along with puberty, so when they all kick in they are already really hot, so they have no problem returning to their base form, but in Abby's case, they ran amok through her system and turned her into how she wanted to look like subconciously (and we know Abby since the beginning of the comic wanted to look like a hot grownup with big boobs, she even had a clear picture of her dream body when she asked Chloe to look like a bikini model version of her, and she took pictures).

When she finally gets what she wants she enjoys the hell out of it until Roy doesn't recognize her, so for the first time she starts to think about the consequences and i suppose in that moment deep down she wanted to go back to 12 years old Abby...

Or it might well be the clause, we'll see...

Annnnd there's the other shoe of irony dropped.

Good, now she can look like a kid again. Because she is one.

That's what I thought too.

While I wouldn't put it past Ilsa to create a deal the signer will ultimately regret this seems all anticlimactic. Aside from driving a wedge between Chloe and Teddi as well as metamorphosis into a succubus the only thing Abby was regretting was that her classmates won't recognize her and she'll have to drop out of school.

This may have been the key to getting her to revert back to her 12 your old form or something completely accidental and hopefully this change wil cut down on all the complaining on this board.... Nahhh!

Not all belts are function.

My theory is that the contract is either something like "Succubus powers will manifest when causing chaos, and go away (breasts and all) when not." Or even more simpler "Must cause Teddy misery, reverts when not."

Abby did a trick. And in only a handful of pages as a succubus she's arguably accomplished more than a boy turned into the succubus town bike

This is the first strip in a long while that actually made me laugh - like, genuinely.

Given the second to last panel where Abby reassures herself that - even if she has to drop out of school and lose all her friends - she still has her breasts (and immediately freaks out when she notices they're gone in the last panel), I have a hard time believing this shift was something Abby subconsciously wanted because she didn't want to lose either of the former over the latter.

Also, what does that say about Abby if she's okay with being an elementary school drop out with no friends, so long as she gets to keep her boobs?

So, here's hoping that there was something in that fine print (that Abby obviously neglected to notice in her haste to get big boobs) that took away all these awesome gifts of hers once she realized the downside to growing up too fast.

It is an irony clause, after all - and Ilsa never said the change would be permanent.

Not all belts are function.

Ah, you are right. The lack of belt loops does indicate the belt was for fashion. Her shorts must either has a draw string or an elastic waistband.

Your subconscious mind operates mostly independently of your conscious mind. It’s in the back of your head, analyzing observations and making connections all on its own.

If Abby’s shapeshift was a product of her subconscious—and I believe it was—then it really doesn’t matter how much she wanted to keep her boobs. Her subconscious might have understood that she needed to look twelve again, and that the boobs needed to go.

Obviously we can’t hook this up to anything in real life because magical shapeshifter powers aren’t real, but if they were and your subconscious mind could operate them, you wouldn’t change into what you wanted, you’d change into whatever you needed to be to survive.

i have never been more relieved or happy about a DC strip. whatever the shenanigans involved, i appreciate it!
