Well, that was inevitable.
For those curious: my avatar is an artistic rendering of a spaceship I drew for a primitive (by today's standards) multiplayer online game called XPilot. (More about both on my website.)
Bzzz.

I have to say that this was a disappointing follow-up to last page. I was hoping for more pathos and less cartoony comedy. This page plays like a bad Looney Tunes cartoon. No offense to Jason as he doesn't write the jokes.
I won't lose hope that this ultimately goes toward some story development shortly.

One question: Why? Just... why? It can't be because she needs money or a place to stay. Could she be doing this to ruin Teddi's reputation and make him lose his job? ..... Actually, i would be completely fine with her screwing over Teddi like that, though it would seem out of character.

What's weird is how happy she looks about it, makes me question just what she is actually planning to do. If it was revenge I would think she would look a bit more twisted.

That's what i was thinking too. Not only is Chloe not really the vengeful type, but her expression doesn't look even slightly malicious.

wow ok so we're downgrading a black dude to minstrel speak now, that's only totally appalling.

I think the idea is that she sees the club as a port in the storm. I just hope she doesn't take to stripping like Teddi did and is only using the place to dry off. If she does start stripping, that would be too far of a departure of her character as being reserved for EC for me.Dragon Paladin wrote: ↑Mon Mar 26, 2018 2:52 amThat's what i was thinking too. Man, I love how clever this comic get at time. I did not see this coming, and that made it funnier then it should be. Love it.

That's what I think, too. Actually, I'm surprised some posters seem confused; I thought it was kind of obvious.
Does the black bouncer have a name that we have been told about? I vaguely remember that, in the past, every time a new character appeared we were immediately informed of his/her name, even though sometimes it took the other characters weeks to find out...

concerning an artist's work has to be their life blood."

Failure to follow a potentially dramatic note of character development, as well as an old hat joke? Back to their *best*... Well, at least it wasn't yet another sex joke (though, the sleazy jokes seem imminent again).
I wouldn't go as far to label the black bouncer as "minstrel"-like, but it is a lazy stereotype, which would normally be tolerable for a prop character, except for the fact that laziness has been rampant throughout most of the strip's run.

The confusion must come in from the cartoony change in expression from panel 1 to 1A.Rosa wrote: ↑Mon Mar 26, 2018 3:40 amThat's what I think, too. Actually, I'm surprised some posters seem confused; I thought it was kind of obvious.

I recall Izz wasn't tagged until it was revealed in-story because it was to be a surprise to both the reader and Zii. Also, I don't believe the mother and daughter from SotR who always catch Sandra in shocking situations have ever been tagged and Aania was tagged as Aaina. This may be a one off character who won't be given a name and wont get a tag.

Yeah, it is clearly a case of being happy to find shelter without causing further drama, albeit a shortsighted achievement since it is likely the strip club would expect her to start working, and there would be some drama if a second "Candy" arrives.DarkAsh wrote: ↑Mon Mar 26, 2018 3:02 amI think the idea is that she sees the club as a port in the storm. While I hope it doesn't go down such a path, it seems highly likely that Chloe will begin stripping as to maintain her residency in the club. Since Teddi is such a repugnant and responsibility-dodging person, it might take him seeing Chloe degrade herself as he had been frequently doing to truly comprehend his failings. Chloe is certainly partially responsible for Teddi's life going off the rails, however, it was his own choices that made him into a vapid, excessively promiscuous object.
