When did people call Valkog a hatemonger? I can't recall seeing that.
That'd be me, for one. But I know I wasn't the only one, others noted the hatedom in his posts, and even said the place for that is the Dangerously Chloe forum (not the Ma3 one).
Guess he liked the idea, as he's writing here now. :-Q

Any links you might offer? Only the search engine didn't show me anything.

This is getting ridiculous. They can't offer links to any "hateful" behavior on my part, because no such behavior exists. I referred to Gary as a creep one time, and only as a jab at his porn collection. There's my broad, all-encompasing "hatedom".

Well, I know I can't recall you doing anything particularly hateful.

Because Valkog hadn't said anything hateful - they expressed a minute form of criticism; which - to a very select few in these forums - is seen as a hateful act, even when it isn't.

And yes - it is getting ridiculous.
Please, don't come to me expecting me to fix your problems.

95% anime is made for the local market and never exported.... and that in a year big on exports.
You should really do your research before making statements like that (most recent article).
ROTFLMAO :)) :)) :))
and this is where you find your information about anime? American media? the Hollywod Reporter???
=)) =))
oh boy you can stop faking now, you are no anime fan... you're just some dude using google to find stuff and pretend be knowledgeable about some subject... it's old as the internet... too bad it never works, y'know... any fan of manga and anime, anyone in the fan community, knows how the Japanese industry works as well as I do; that's coz we keep up with all the latest info, the new series & releases, the latest news: we know where to find such info, while you obviously have no clue....
next time you wanna fake being a fan of Japanese media and you wanna find reliable data, hey, I'm a nice girl, lemme help you a bit: try visiting Baka-updates (and be dazzled, lol)

A bunch of smilies and condescension, yet your post is devoid of anything that refutes my point, or what was stated in the article. Here's another article from the same source, which explains how exports and online streaming have been keeping Japan's anime industry afloat in recent years.

So do you have a counterargument, or not? If so, provide a link. Otherwise, I'll assume you don't have one and accept your concession.

no, dude, sorry, you can't get out of this one pickle by throwing big words you don't understand and links to random sites... like, so much lol... everyone in the forum already realized you don't know shit about anime & are faking it... :-j really, seriously, who you think you gonna fool? the moment you started invoking the dumb shit you read in American media, you were outed as a faker... :)) hey, since you are at it, tell us that anime characters look Caucasian and that the huge eyes & pastel hair are an attempt to imitate Western people, why dontcha? I bet you can find lotsa American papers & media articles to support you, ROTFL!

I told you to go to Baka-updates, and since you are at it go to Tokyo-toshokan too... nope, no links: just do what you do best, google & find the sites...

aw, who are we kidding, we know you won't do it, you don't really care & don't really want to learn about anime at all...

well, anyhoo, I'm done with this guy's wankgames, so now I'm gonna address all the rest of you... all those in the forum who, unlike Gotoh, are interested in Japanese culture and actually want to know about Japanese manga & anime... here's a rundown of the hard facts:
1) every year, thousands of new manga are created in hundreds of magazines
2) every year, four times a year, about a hundred new tv anime series start airing
3) about 95% of those don't reach the West, they are just for the local market
4) that's why we, the ENORMOUS community of dedicated fans who live in the West, work hard at translating all these manga & anime who never get officially released... producing scanlations and fansubs... the 2 websites I mentioned before contain huge lists of all the manga & anime that never reached the West and therefore are being translated by fans, and, as you can see if you visit those sites, the number of titles is many many MANY times more than what you can find through official releasers.
Visit those 2 sites here:
Manga scanlating: https://www.mangaupdates.com/releases.html
Anime fansubbing: https://www.tokyotosho.info/index.php

And that's it, everyone: I offered you the truth, and now you know how deep the rabbit hole goes... :YMPEACE: I'm sure Gotoh is gonna write some reply, quoting flawed sources & talking out of his ass, so just remember this: he isn't an anime fan, isn't a member of the active community, is clueless about Japan & manga & anime, and whatever he says comes from random googling, not from knowledge and direct experience of the facts...

Some how the notion has emerged among a few posters that if you criticise the characters or a story line or say that the creative team aren't awesome in every respect that you must hate the comic and think that Dave etc are awful people.

The worst kind of fandom really. It's tiresome but so over the top that it's hard to take seriously.

The parents in EC weren't exactly paragons either but at least they were present. Ace's Dad was a bit of an idiot while Eugene was pretty much of a no show until the reincarnation arc but at least Adora and Maria showed some inclination for proper parenting.
Eugene showed up earlier than that, we first saw him when he and Maria told Layla they were betrothing her to Dio.

That said, we didn't see much of Eugene, but we saw Maria fairly often and she seemed fairly responsible. Such as making Layla clean up as punishment for tricking Nina into drinking their father's alcohol. She also kept Blair from harrasing girl-Ace, detoxed Brooke after catching her drinking too and, during her cameo in PMS, she advised Stephanie and J.C. about Lori and her coven because she wanted to keep PMS and the cheer vamps safe.
Ironically, the Hartley's in VC seemed to be responsible parents, which got them condemned as abusive by the vampire apologists, even though their parenting style seemed to be similar to the Delacroix's.

Oh Lord don#t remind me. What went on with that series really puts the arguments here into perspective. A war between "fans" that seriously screwed up the comic so that everybody lost out.

Those were the days.

This is not the first time this incident with VC has been mentioned. I wish I was able to read that series to see what you two are talking about. I guess I would also have to read the forums to full understand context, though.

It's a long and complicated story but basically there were two parallel arcs - "The Vampire Cheerleaders" and "The Paranormal Mystery Squad". The fans of the first one got incredibly upset when they discovered that the PMS arc was meant to be the main one. Flame wars ensued on the forums but mainly on Facebook and the result was that the originally planned story arc got junked with some parts of it not being produced and published. There was also a lot of sound and fury over the treatment of one character's parents - in particular because they got charmed into having a child.

I'd have to check but I think the 4th section of five that were planned never appeared at all while a finale was written and drawn which did bring some resolution to the characters but also left a lot of questions unanswered.

How were Heather's parents similar to Maria and Eugene?

We were actually allowed to see Layla and Nina spend enough time with their parents, or scenes of them alone, to form an opinion about them. Whereas we only saw Heather's parents 3-4 times and most of their brief appearances was spent being her thralls.

Thanks for the recap. That does sound interesting, but probably not enough to buy the series to read, especially if there's a lot left open. Was the humor good?
