I wouldn't call it being triggered; as your post didn't offend me. My ire is largely due to the stupidity of the plotline and who the writer seems to deem as the driving character for the story; so, I'm sorry it I came off as snapping at you - it certainly wasn't my intention. Same goes for this post - just in case. :D

As for character development; I wouldn't call what we've seen from Teddy as such, even in the most minute way - as character development usually means they grow as a character - becoming a better person through their experiences; while Teddy has actually degraded over the last few years - the only things growing in regards to himself is his bust size, the notches on his headboard, and his ego.

If the reality of his actions set in and he realized that - if he hadn't bragged to Pandora first; causing her to inspect his choice first before bringing the poor schmuck to Chloe - he could have gotten someone killed, that would have been some character development - as Teddy would have acknowledged that his plan was incredibly flawed. But, as is is, his acknowledgment that the only accomplishment his actions have gotten him was making him the school slut is meaningless - as he quickly forgives himself for it by saying it was all for Chloe, thus worth it; and becoming a slut makes him relate to succubus better - which is downright atrocious.

My apologies if somebody's already asked this question.

Could Al take on Chloe? After all, she can't kill Death.

Remo Williams,

The Master of Sinanju.

It's been addressed already. Teddi asked Alchemy when she was in female form and flew off in a huff. Later when Alchemy returned in male form it was possible, but then Teddi saved someone fated to die and reaper internal affairs would have him under such scrutiny he couldn't save Chloe's life because it would be viewed as interference in the natural order.

It's all good. I'm relieved there was no problem. :)

Yeah, I generally agree with your points here.
I guess my idea of "development" was more in a literal sense, in that Teddy's realisation was character growth the same way a tumour grows, but I understand how developing into a worse thing isn't good character development.
Regardless, even before Teddi's second hook up with an actually willing participant, his character has gone to crap, which - as you have noted - makes Chloe's absence even more problematic.

Okay, time to comment on everything that has transpired in this and the last comic.
  1. Frankly, I'm disgusted that a) Teddy's solution to dealing with all that sex being meaningless is to have more sex; why not talk to someone about his feelings like a normal person? and b) Alchemy basically went along with it with only the barest of protests despite it being clearly a comfort quickie covering up a greater problem; couldn't they just cuddle while talking it out? That's how I would approach the situation anyway.
  2. I'm astonished it's taken this long for Teddy to realise he's become a slut. Not astonished it hasn't changed his attitude, though; after all the dumb crap he did in the run-up to this I suppose it's a little late to hope for him to have lasting regrets about this.
  3. No comment on how his pheromones mechanic played into all this lunacy? For shame, Dave Lumsdon! For shame! You can't bring up such an ethically-wrong thing like that and then act like it's nothing. That's the Injustice 2 approach to difficult subject matter, and it stinks!
  4. Think you understand what it's like to be a succubus now, do you? BAHAHAHAHAHAHA-No. Teddy, no. You're the Diet Coke model of a succubus right now, getting all the advantages but none of the disadvantages. When having sex as a virgin/inexperienced lover can and certainly will result in you killing your partner, when you have to be a dirty slut just to survive, when you live in a society that openly despises good old-fashioned romance and endorses pointless cruelty for its own sake... then will you understand what it's like to be a succubus. Not before.
  5. Why is Alchemy falling asleep? Since when do Reapers need to do that? I know it's pointless to ask questions about the least-developed fantastic race with a name in this universe, but seriously.
  6. Finally, and I'm surprised no one has commented on this before now, Teddy just responded to Alchemy falling asleep while he was talking with a "*scoff* Men!" remark. Putting aside the gender stereotypes angle for a moment, is he not a man still? I know he's polymorphed into a woman but I was under the impression he still identified primarily as a guy in a girl's body. Did that change when I wasn't looking? Getting back to it, though, who the hell are you to comment negatively about men, Teddy? You ARE a man! You just insulted yourself, not to mention everyone else with an XY chromosome!
Now before someone comes in and brings up slut-shaming, because I know someone will, I am not against being a slut on the whole. I endorse any person's right to engage in good, honest sluttiness as long as nothing untoward happens to either or any party. What I don't support is a) the things Teddy has been doing, like charming people into wanting to have sex with him, or b) being a slut while being in denial about it even though it's blatant to anyone with working eyes. Teddy has done both of those things, and therefore I object to his behaviour.

Yeah, I don't think this relates to being a succubus that much. Sure Succubi can have sex to sate their needs, but we've seen Chloe feed on Chris Montana before, and it was less of a banging-him (as she is still a virgin, after all) and more of a sucking-his-energy-out-of-him.

I think the "*scoff* Men!" remark was more of the strip's punchline, since all of us know that Teddi's still Teddy deep down.

By the way, wasn't Teddy's contract supposed to be about getting himself a Girlfriend? Teddi has basically five girlfriends (especially Daisy) and a reaper as his thralls, so I wonder if Chloe's contract would technically expire out of this.
Sure that it's hard to chose what defines a girlfriend as per a demonic contract, but Chloe herself was pretty adamant that having Jacqui banging Teddy would be enough, yes?

That's the opposite actually, otherwise would have had him & Jacqui bang a long time ago.

I'm more confused about Alchemy falling asleep. I know the stereotype, but I've never actually seen it myself. Is falling asleep right after sex something guys actually do ?

Not going to slleep often, but my limited experience agrees with the claim that guys tend to get relaxed and lazy after sex, whereas women get more active and bouncy. Bonding vs. protecting the infants from leopards.

No.

It was established early on that, in order for the contract to be null and void, Teddy's girlfriend would need to love him with her heart - i.e. having sex isn't enough. (side note - I really miss Cassandra's work).

You mean you're reading this comic for something other than titillating imagery? =))

But, in all seriousness - it is aggravating just how many times the art has to resort to something where we have to see as much skin as the PG 13 rating will allow without upsetting the sponsors; which isn't the artist's fault, mind you - as they take direction from the author. And, for awhile now, it's been nothing but gratuitous sexual imagery.

Yes, I know this is a comic about sexual demons running amok in a mortal household; still - compare the start of this comic to the more recent stuff; and it's like the author is looking for excuses to show as much skin as possible.

To be fair - for all his talk about understanding succubus, Teddy hasn't a clue that he's the one making all these people want him. He actually believes it's another succubus controlling these people; so is taking the 'responsibility' for their enthrallment by taking advantage of the situation and sleeping with them (because, better him than some random stranger - I guess?)

Would you believe me if I told you I came as much for the characters and gags as for the fanservice? I don't mind cheesecake in general, but not when the story bends over and gets its pipes cleaned in the name of a constant stream of nudity.

I agree about the nudity, by the way. A bit of bare flesh in the form of belly tops and short skirts etc. is perfectly fine but full-on nudity is like diamonds: if there's too much of it about, it loses a lot of its intrinsic value. And we've seen enough of it in the last I-don't-know-how-many strips that it's gotten real old real fast.

Regardless of how moral Teddy's solution is or isn't, if they're going to go the path of the sudden realisation about his sluttiness and sexual lechery, the least they can do is bring it up, if only to be handwaved off along with the rest of his practises. Not addressing it after you've decided to go there is just cowardly, in my opinion. If I wrote something where a grave mishandling of morality and karma had taken place, I'd put in the due effort to correct it as much as I could without damaging the rest of the work. I don't know why the comic nervously shies away from the implications of it that at best the writers failed to consider when the pheromones were introduced.
