Was about to ask how many guys would accept a brief sex change to be in Ace's towel in that panel.

Now gotta wonder if Layla is about to run to the phone and tell Kade about his 'new girlfriend'...

You can actually hear Layla's thought process in panels 4 and 5:

"That means you're.... And Kade was.... "

The strip wasn't funny today. I'm not complaining, though. In fact, I thought it was excellent.

Why? Because it was dramatic. It had pathos and conflict and character development.

I felt intense sympathy for Ace.

I felt loathing for Layla.

I feel a deep interest in how things will turn out, not as a person reading a comic strip, but as a person reading what's becoming a fascinating graphic novel.

What happens next may be a make-or-break for the direction EC will go in the future.

Can comedy and drama mix? Damn straight. Buffy the Vampire Slayer was an excellent example of how there could be long story arcs mixed with hilarious dialogue, intense character interaction and fantastic action.

Today's strip was unsettling for me ... in a good way. And for that, I heartily applaud its two wonderful creators.

Yeah, if GrAce was just Ace at that moment in panel 2, he would've suffered the same fate as Blair in the previous strip... or worse...

I don't know about y'all, but if I was GrAce, i'd be about 10 kinds of embarrassed right now. lol

I see Layla as your typical "Mean Girl"... sadly, until I'm shown otherwise, I see her laughter very much at Ace's predicament. Kade is still stolen by another girl at the moment, either way. But I see this building more of Nina and Ace's friendship, as Nina is rather compassionate and will likely try to help Ace acclimate into "girl society" with the slumber party. Do her best to show him that being a girl isn't a horrible thing. And maybe... just maybe... Layla might manage an insincere apology towards Ace (some vague day in the future) because Layla might be a "Mean Girl" but she also really cares about Nina in her own big sister fashion. And making nice with Nina's friends is something I could see her doing.

Hmm....tickling made Ace accidentally transform....wonder if anger will too? We've never actually seen Ace in his 'Wolfman' form..only his Wolf form.
