^Exactly
Gotoh wrote:@Cortez: No, she wasn't
Yes she was. She was just going to sit back and watch and only did anything to save Teddy after she took a whiff of the pheromones.

Before that, the only one that wanted to help was Tandy.

Look at panel 3 again. Gabrielle was confirming whether Tandy's suspicion was true, or not. But she was already poised to take action before the pheromones got to her.

All that shows is Gabby holding Tandy back, since she actually wanted to help from the get go.

And the second link just shows what we've been saying, that Gabby only took action after the pheromones got to her.

Gabby was okay to watch as an apparently powerless, helpless normal gets beaten severely by a group of people. Despite Tandy's misgivings, Gabby was clearly willing to wait until she was certain that Teddi had no powers; by which time Teddi was probably going to need an ambulance. The whole punchline of the strip is that Gabby only acts once the pheromones affect her.

Gabby is not a nice person.

I'm fairly certain that Teddi was never in any danger of hospitalization, just as I'm certain the AA students have ways of treating severe injury, given they regularly engage in full-contact combat exams. Otherwise, we would've seen the student elite sporting splints, crutches, and wheelchairs.

Odds are Gabby would've stepped in before things went too far.

Sure, but not all the time.

She stops midway through saying "wait for it" to jump into action, in a panel where the pheremones are in front of her, and you don't think it was the pheremones' doing?

Time for a reality check:

http://www.wrdw.com/home/headlines/Teen ... 31091.html
http://www.newshub.co.nz/home/new-zeala ... pital.html

And those are a few links from just randomly googling the phrase "Bullies put high schooler in hospital"

And no, odds are Tandy might have stepped in before it went too far. You are reading a lot into Gabby's words if you think she was going to help anytime soon.
BTW, please name one good thing Gabby has done, not counting the pheromones? /:)

Yhe only times we've seen Gabby being nice, to anyone, is when she wants something. She was nice to mel to put Melissa in a position to get information, and now she seems to want Teddi. Probably pheromones+ wanting to steal Naoomi's "crush". Otherwise she sems meanspirited, even to her friends.
Pointless arguing is one of the three pillars upon which the Internet is built. The other two are of course cat pictures and porn.

How many of those schools have students and teaching staff with magic and psychic powers? :-\

She was waiting for confirmation, which they wouldn't get if they rushed in immediately. Just because the pheromones kicked in at that moment doesn't mean she would've continued to sit idly by and do nothing.

I doubt Tandy would be friends with her, if she were nearly as bad as she's being made out to be. But since you ask: she gave Callista a shoulder to cry on when she needed it most (look at the last panel, here).

Quick step back before this gets too heated. For the record, I don't believe that Gabby is evil, just not a nice person. She's selfish, conniving and manipulative. However, your last post, Gotoh, reminded me that she's recently (god knows where these timelines intersect) had witches infiltrate her school resulting in her and her friends nearly getting killed. I'm willing to give her a pass on the paranoia, given those circumstances. And clearly AA fosters a certain fanaticism in its pupils. I don't like Gaby right now, but I can't condemn her and maybe the next few strips will show a nicer side of her.

If someone's already brought up the events in MC as a reason for Gaby's behavior, I apologise for not having noticed. Its hard to keep up with all the posts.

I wasn't heated. My apologies if it seemed that I was.

I can agree with that to an extent, but here's all I'm saying:

From what we've seen of her, Gabrielle's character is (meant to be) comical. Yet people are taking her actions seriously. It'd be like judging Mr. Bueller harshly for joking that he and his wife should shoot their daughter, Jeanie. Movie going audiences recognized the joke for what it was and laughed it off.

What Gabby does is no different.

Gotoh, we've butted heads on more than a few occasions and I think it's because we are both very passionate in our defense of characters we feel are being unfairly criticized. I must admit some of your defenses could rival those I wrote in support of Penny & Aggie's Helen Tomalin.

Gabrielle hasn't show too many good traits, but then again there really aren't that many heroes in this particular webcomic as it is. And I agree if she was a terrible person Tandy wouldn't be friends with her. And let's not forget that she's still a teenager and they can be the worst. As far as I'm concerned the jury is still out. She may prove to be a better person than we've observed so far.

let's agree? that she is a sadistic girl with certain standards of when to indulge on that facet of herself? if she wanted to do it all the time she would have joined a street gang long ago or even throw herself on Cerise's side willingly!

It kinda does, since Teddi was getting beaten pretty badly by that point, which is why her pheromones went into overdrive in the first place.

And again, it was Tandy that mentioned again that they really should step in.
