I'm thinking Teddi has realized that he may be more popular at school in this form, than as a guy with a reputation for being a geek who takes stuff apart...
For those curious: my avatar is an artistic rendering of a spaceship I drew for a primitive (by today's standards) multiplayer online game called XPilot. (More about both on my website.)

How lovely!

And by that I mean predictable, repetitive, and utterly boring.
I'm sorry and I hope this post doesn't make anyone think I am discriminating anyone, but Teddy is one of the few male characters in the series that are vivid and honestly likeable, and yet another move like this has been pulled.

I thought I might've been wrong about nowadays writing treating any move that over the course of the story alters a straight male character into something that isn't a straight male character (genderbending, orientation change, etc.) as 'positive character development', but for some of the characters in these series (both Eerieverse and MA3-verse) it's become the only way to have positive character development.

Let's fact-check, shall we?

The three times queer men and any women were affected by anything to this effect, it's been when Nina was changed into a boy (lasted... 4 strips or so? The only thing she noticed was wanting to hit someone, that Brooke had nice hips, and her lessened affection for ponies), when Dillon was made to perform cunnilingus (which was excusable because he basically prostituted himself out in the first place, but probably was only kept around because it was the way authors intended for Amber and Gary to get a relationship), and the legendary bimbo incident.

That's right, let's bring out the bimbo incident. The memetic molester doll makes Nina be a cheerleader because poor girls being made to make out DESPITE the whole shebang about Brooke being her utter bicuriosity was evil. Stealing panties and being kicked for it is fine because it is pathetic. Getting power and being malevolent for it is wrong to portray in an innocent series.

Except when it isn't.
Two male characters permanently making an excuse in their orientation is fine. Do note, Ash never indicated any bicuriosity beforehand. In fact, he treated the fact fem-kade was a man before as a total dealbreaker, as graceful as he was about withdrawing from that (ignoring the flirting). The only indication Dio might've not been straight is that he is a pompous Frenchman. If you think all pompous Frenchmen have to be at least bisexual, congratulations, you're on your path to bigotry.

Now, let's see the reactions of their friends and family to genderbending.

Ace : His father is happier. That's right, Ace is going to live his whole life knowing his father VASTLY preferred a daughter, and was happier when the son he brought up turned into a daughter. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you'd think at least one of the parents would try to sue the school if they tried to forcibly genderbend their kid. Oh, also, Ace has *no* friends. Obviously, he doesn't need any of his old friends on his new path of life! As a girl. Law doesn't care either.

Teddy : His sister is happier, and he probably doesn't have friends either. Well, I am glad we've confirmed this : Abby and Pandora have a borderline psychopatic lack of care for Teddy, or at least did when he was male. Abby would've drunk the only thing that may bring him back to life without a second thought; Pandora gave the only thing that could bring Teddy back to life to Abby without flinching. They're both happier Teddy decided to be a girl. And yes, despite being a MUCH more interesting person than Gary, we can presume Teddy has absolutely no friends who would be honestly interested in what happened. Not only that, this is actually the way they are going to save his soul. Because now Teddy has massive knockers and a figure to die for, he can easily get a girlfriend on his own and not have to worry about the lose-my-soul deal, since all the bisexuals and lesbians will absolutely fawn over him. Congrats on that front prematurely if that happens, because it's basically admitting that's all a woman needs to be happy.

By the way, good job on skipping the whole adjustment period, since that's boring. Nobody wants to know how he came to that decision! It's important he's a girl now and it's going to be 100% awesome! No problems at all, and nobody cares about guy Teddy! Even the succubi for whom he was the only snack in the house! Even the reaper who got him into this mess in the first place. Heck, he has a friend with an angel around, the angel doesn't care either! And a geek guy doesn't have any friends, obviously, so now that he has a massive mammary meltdown a joke which would be deemed objectification if he started off as a girl he can get a bunch of them!

To sum it up :
- Temporary mind control and forcing to do acts completely inside of their orientation is wrong on girls. It's a liiittle bit cooler if a girl does it subconsciously through her sheer magical talent on a school of lesbians.
- Permanent mind beinding and forcing to do acts completely outside of their orientation is okay on guys, and positive character development.
- Forcing a gay man to do straight acts is a liiiitttle bit icky, but that's okay, since it'll help us blueball the protagonist for the next 300 strips and make many excellent jokes, and he'll get a MOVIE ROLE out of it.
- Genderbending on straight girls is nice for a 3-4 strip joke, but we best change it immediately because we don't really want to deal with the consequences in the long run, or consider changes to a character's mentality.
- Genderbending on straight guys for 2-3 arcs is both an amazing joke and a positive character development, and we certainly don't have to deal with the issues it brings. We'll just make it so their family is accepting of it, bah, they're happiert! And they didn't have friends before so we'll give them a bunch now! That's the way it is for all actual transgender people, right? It's all sunshine and rainbows!
- All a man needs to go further in life more easily is to change into a woman. You'll get friends and a girlfriend easier if you have a big set of boobs compared to any personality trait you might have.
- Double standards only go one way.

Heck, I'd actually endure if they put Gary through all this, but getting rid of the one actually likeable male characters they've made is not cool. I wouldn't have complained either if it was 'for comedy', but how many times can one web page tell the same joke for it to still be funny?

You're doing it wrong.
The comic is supposed to be that way. If wacky comedy. Of course readers want more focus on fun than drama. I like it. What good is thinking too hard if it ruins your enjoyment?

Back to the strip. I think Teddy will somehow find a way get keep credit (attendance and test scores) his new persona earns. In El Goonish Shive, when in similar situation all Elliot had to do was *makes puppy eyes* and say: "pleeese?". And Teddie is way hotter...
This will negate most negative consequences of his current situation lasting more than week.

None of the above, especially not predictable or repetitive since Teddy being open minded about this is different from how these stories usually go.

In fact, Teddy came to this decision by himself, no mind alteration or anything like with Ace.

If Teddy decided on his own that he wants to try out being a woman for now, that's not a bad thing.

If she finds she prefers being Teddi, that's even better.

Besides, if it bothers you so much, maybe you should read something else.

It's wacky enjoyment the first couple of times around.

Nobody was ever as uncomfortable with their new body as it would've been realistic for them to be, only the first time (Ace, Kade) they got brainwashed into the change, with notable addition of the fact it was likely to be temporary for them. Teddy's was more comfortable from the get-go all on his own, which is okay, but at the same time, he doesn't really have a choice. Even with hypothetical shapechanging powers he might've gotten from the reaper/succubus essence, nobody's doing a thing to give him an option to return to the way he was. He's adapting to what he can and can't do. But all other aspects of the situation are quite the same as they were before.

If things keep going that way, I probably will.

EC and MC are more or less over, and now all interesting male characters are getting wiped out in favor of pointless fan service.

Done with this, Teddy was an interesting character but now he's getting the same treatment as Ace (and Kade) where he's being subjected to the writer's obsession with turning boys into girls. Funny thing is, when people complained a while back about a certain EC strip it was very quickly changed because it effected the female characters in an unpleasant way but clearly it's ok to mess with male characters to the point where they don't exist anymore.

Why make the character of Teddy in the first place when the writers just seem to want to write a softcore lesbian succubus comic. Cause thats where it's going, Teddy suddenly is perfectly fine with being female and shortly Chloe is going to realize that while up to now she has presented as being solely attracted to men, she is going to realize she likes the girl Teddy and more fan service bulls**t can continue.

I don't see what the problem is exploring the same situation Ace found himself in post magical gender bending since there was a lot that was left up to interpretation and imagination. Ace was a secondary character so we were limited in what we got to see him go through while Teddy is a main character. As such I think this plot has a lot of potential. Teddy has always been someone who likes to examine things and now he has an opportunity few have ever had and he's trying to make the best of it. Moreover, he actually has a female body that will make him popular in ways that his male body could not. It could be worse. He could have high school aged Kylie or Ruby's bodies (not that I would turn either one of them away if they gave high school me the time of day ;) ), but he has a body similar to Chloe or even DiDi's so he will be popular. And perhaps the realization in the last panel is that he'll be too popular. He might be remembering the boy who wolf whistled at him the previous day.

I think it's fun to think about what we would do if we could change genders. Personally I'd go out for karaoke since most of my favorite artists are female and I just can do their songs justice in my male form.

While I wouldn't go to as far into the negative as some of the earlier commenters, I do echo that it will be depressing if we permanently lose one of the few likable male characters in these series. I know he will technically still be present, but everyone will see simply another in a long line of likable female characters.

But I don't want to judge this too quickly. Let's see if Teddy's decision to embrace being a girl actually lasts.

Ace was one of the four male characters that mattered in Eerie Cuties. I'm not counting Ash or the possessed teacher as their appearances were periodical. Now we have Dusky in the newest arc but we don't know if he'll make more appearances as EC is more or less done with.

Out of these four :
- Ace got changed into a girl
- Kade got changed into a girl and was about to be lobotomized
- Dio was forcibly turned bisexual for Ash
- Blair was stuck in the body of a female doll.

To bring you up to speed, Dangerously Chloe doesn't even have four male characters that matter. It has two and a half. And the half is only if you insist on counting Kimmy. And I would have been almost fine with that number being smaller (far it be from me to believe a nearly unisex cast can't be entertaining) had Teddy not been one of a very select few male characters Pixie Trix Comics produced that are honestly likeable.

And yes, I am well aware this will either turn into a disaster for Teddy or it will literally solve all of his problems.

The whole turning back will ruin it :p Not that I don't mind stories were they do turn back, but like you said, they did it with Ace. Though, this seems to be a bit different, as Ace started falling for guys, as he was straight to begin with. Teddy doesn't seem to be that way, so continuity error?
Yeah but the rules of genderbending are 'If you are ok with it and this story isn't just wish fulfillment, it won't last'. Just like 'If you don't like it and constantly search for an out, there is no escape'

I believe that is more or less 'The Genderbending community in a nutshell'. And I say this as a fan of it.

I'm more willing to give this comic some slack because I've seen the dark underbelly of THAT part of the webcomic community and this is not even the tip of the iceburg on that front.

Ok, I'm confused...

Of all people, Teddy should be suffering gender dysphoria hard.

So, it's that easy to overcome it? Does this not set a dangerous precedent? Smells like conversion therapy or some shit... :-? I'm puzzled how the people who are normally so outspoken on LGBTQ rights are accepting this without a blink.

Or both girls and guys.
I'm hoping he meets Lacy! :D

I mean, assuming he remains Teddy "inside", he should still be into girls - he sure got a ghost boner at Kimmy. And Lacy, while possibly being bi, for sure is more comfortable in being lesbian, and this way, no problems! :-bd

I'm just amazed people are expecting what they consider to be realistic reactions from a webcomic that contains, just off the top of my head; succubi, witches, time travel, angels, resurrection juice, mind control chocolates, and grim reapers. But a young man finds himself stuck in a girl's body and decides to roll with it instead of angsting about it for eternity? Oh heaven forbid this comedic series stay lighthearted!
