Hmm...But in Alchemy's first few appearances, it was a light switch, just not one they had full conscious control of.

Alchemy switches depending on "what fluidity" gets "turned on"


not on mere will


so sometimes Al wants to be with a girl
sometimes Kimmy wants to be with a guy
Sometimes Kimmy wants to be with a girl
AND sometimes Al wants to be with a guy

and Maybe(unlikely but might happen) sometimes Al becomes "Alicia" the TS or Hermaphrodite

I'm not quite sure why Alchemy thought he "understood." I mean have they ever talked about the mechanics of her transformations?

So at present I definitely can't side with Alchemy on this, she's being quite selfish and ignoring that Teddy's whole reason for even bringing this up is to try to keep Chloe from dying, not to mention presumptuous for thinking he understood whatever vague conditions it takes for her to be male.

And she's already said Chloe brings out the male in her, so why is this even an issue?

Agreed and it's difficult to be sympathetic since she injected him with her own blood which is why he's stuck in his female form without any regard for his feelings. And like you said he's doing all this for Chloe not to get into her miniskirt. Perhaps Alchemy might know some reapers who prefer their male form to satisfy Chloe if not angels may be the only other option.
