I guess they could use male demons for that, but that seems highly inefficient. They would kill a male demon for every baby they make, so even if they kill ALL male demons, the next generation would still be half the size of the current one (assuming the number of male and female demons is roughly equal).
So I think they use humans for that, the same way they use humans to be succubi's first sexual partners.
Of couse, there are other breeds of demons (like Tia's) who may reproduce normally.

Demons are immortal, barring extreme damage from vastly superior forces. Males would probably suffer intensely, but not die from their type of pregnancy.

But it makes no sense for every demonic pregnancy to be lethal. Not unless each and every one produces a large clutch of spawn. Unless it does that, the demonic population would be subject to slow attrition, even extinction, even with humans as surrogate hosts.

You've got to figure, everything we've seen suggests that the average demon kills quite a few humans in their lifetime - what's one more?
