No idea who that might've been. I'll admit that I didn't care much for her character either, but she kinda grew on me due to her character development in vol.4.

Normally, I'd agree with that. But you're overlooking something: Nina was manipulated into doing that. First by Tia, for her own amusement. Then by Cess who further encouraged her. That doesn't exonerate Nina since she went along with it, but they were the ones that put her up to it.
And as you yourself acknowledged, Nina had no idea what "second base" meant. Just as she hadn't been prepared for french kissing and was repulsed by it when it happened. Her actions aren't always innocent, but her mindset usually is.
