Didnt feel like MC to me. Too slapstick. Tiff's EC story had more of an MC comic than this

Ooookay, this all was pretty weird. And quite predictable, too.

Any explanation on the misfire? And what is Mell doing in the first panel? Shooting a selfie??

Best thing is the note at the end of the page, though.

In the first panel blonde Melissa is checking the empty magazine, having removed it from the weapon.
It's a bit tricky to see since the magazine is located in the handle when inserted.

She's looking at the wrong part of the ammo mag, too - the opening for the mag is at the top of it, not the side. So, it's not surprising people think she's taking a selfie (Hell, given that it's Mel who just gave her sister a scare of a lifetime, Mel taking a selfie would have made far more sense, as it would have been completely in character for Mel to do).

Agreed! Not to mention that the plot felt forced/rushed and the characters felt out of character to a degree.

When more EC/MC stuff comes out next month, please tell me it'll be a better illustrator. Compared to the other folks who have illustrated for both series, this one looks incredibly rushed/sloppy.

I believe she's inspecting the clip which means she really was going to kill Lissa, but didn't because she ran out of bullets.

I suppose being nonchalant about murder becomes common place when everyone involved is super powerful. Even if Melissa blew Lissa's head off it would probably regenerate in the same way Anastasia's did when Dakota shot her point blank.

I'm hoping the upcoming story in July is the one about Tia and Blair. Mainly because I'm hoping we'll get learn a bit more about her.

Mel isn't Ana, they each gained their power from different sources. If Light Mel had actually fired, there's no telling what the outcome would've been.

That's why I said probably regenerate, but if you require a better example consider how Cerise was stabbed with a sword and healed from that wound quickly enough because she has the essence of Hekate within her and so does Lissa ever since Cerise injected her with it.

For all intents and purposes they are an immortal family so the worst that can happen if they try to kill each other is they would probably destroy the house and even that is of little consequence since they can rebuild it with magic.

No she didn't, Cerise would've died if Hecate hadn't snapped her fingers. to save her.

The only one we can say that about, would be Ana (and even that's debatable). But we at least know Dakota isn't immortal, because Ana had been about to kill her right as Mel and her friends walked in.

But how do you know that? All Hekate did was remove the blade from Cerise's back - but there's no sign of her healing Cerise, at all.

Which is the point Brasca was making - when the sword was removed, Cerise healed incredibly quick. All Hekate did was assist her by pulling out the sword.

For all anyone knows, Cerise could have handled it in a similar fashion to how Anatasia had when Dakota stabbed her in the back with a magical blade; and the only reason Hekate got involved was because she didn't want any outside sources disabling one of her combatants before a victor could be determined.

And honestly - do you think a regular sword would have actually killed Cerise - the same girl who was surviving mass explosions and magical assaults from someone far more powerful than a girl from the Ninja Club?

Oh, look, it's Fluffy vs. Gotoh again...

Anyway, thanks for the explanation with Mell checking the magazine. I really did not think of that at all, which either implies my stupidity or a problem with the artwork...

At least the misfire is clearly explained - Mell just emptied it at all the other bad guys. Though now we may speculate whether she knew it was empty and this was all just a charade... The questioning look in panel 3 would speak against this theory, though.

Like I'm the only one who challenges him.

In any case, don't worry about it - if Gotoh wants to say I'm wrong, let him. I gave my POV and won't bother trying to debate an incident that happened months ago involving a character that isn't even involved in this particular arc.

As far as the magazine goes - the problem is with how it was illustrated. How many of us could honestly say we didn't think she was taking a selfie?

Because we saw the wound healing immediately after Hecate snapped her fingers, which was before she pulled the sword from Cerise's back. Plus the other girl's comment in the last panel.
