...why do Anatasia and Dakota looked pissed at Melissa's return? Shouldn't they be happy to see her - safe and sound? (yeah - Melissa smashed in the door; but, she's alive and well - which should be more important).

I seriously question whether this was intentional or if the artist is just unable to have the characters properly emote to a situation.

To be honest, I'm not convinced it isn't quite a lot of the latter. But then, she not only smashed open the door; she smashed it open while waving an assault rifle and dressed as an I Dream of Jeannie cosplayer, creating the strong possibility of a sibling brawl that'll demolish the living room. It's not everyone's dream of domestic life. They may just be being generically irritated parents.

True, but they are Esper, and unsure what the differnce is still from Esper and witches, since they assume the girls to be esper at first. So Mel may not have magic on her own without the wand.

Magic or no magic, Melissa's a teenager. She has had only so much time to learn to use her powers, and we know her closest friends have access to tricks we never see her use.
The magic teachers are adults with a lifetime of experience in different forms of magic than Anastasia uses.
No matter how naturally gifted Melissa may be or how willing Anastasia is to teach her, she can learn a lot from the Artemis Academy staff.

She was still a witch then. She had her witch side from her magical girl side seperated. Mel is magical girl who uses the wand, Lissa is the witch. At least that the fan name and how the commic is calling them too.

Melissa wants to attend her old school (because it has boys and because she liked it), but her friends are apparently stuck in the all-girl's school, and only fully safe there for as long as she remains the student body president.

Espers and Magic Cadets are stated to be different. Espers use psychic ability, magic cadts use spell magic.

I think GoodMel would have half the power the original Mel had before she got the wand or Hekate's dark power. Dakota has natural magic aptitude, she's just untrained, but Mel knows magic.
