She's easily distracted as long as there are guys around and she's finally back at Charybdis. Plus Kade's still there and she's got it bad for him. Odds are, she's been too preoccupied to notice anything's off with Mel.

According to Jacqui, Anastasia has been acting like a normal mom, saying things like "Don't wear such a short dress..." (Jacqui also says she isn't one to talk, although Ana's only been shown wearing pants, oddly enough.)

Well Dakota isn't pretending to be a man anymore so perhaps they've abandoned a lot of the normal family pretense.

They weren't pretending to be a normal family; they told Melissa she was a pureblood witch. Anastasia and Dakota had even play-fought before. It wasn't a facade that they were using to hide, it was what they thought was best for Melissa. Anastasia still bakes cookies, and she doesn't dress like a skank ala Queen Obscuria.

She'd have to expend a lot of effort pretending to be her "good" half in an all-girls school filled with people who hate witches. She was already complaining about having twice as much homework. It seems she made her situation worse.

I think in Light Melissa's case it's to keep the peace with the cryptid hunters. Moreover, the Melissa of old only really exists when both sides are fused together. The good and evil side of Melissa seem to prefer schools that fit their nature. I don't think Light Melissa could really fit in with Charybdis any more than Dark Melissa could at Artemis. And dual homework is only a problem when they combine. Separately each Melissa can handle the workload.

Define play-fighting. From Melissa's frame of reference they might have been the kind of parents who joke about sending one to the moon, but never actually did anything. Sound and fury signifying nothing. I agree they probably thought it best to give Melissa a normal home life and then hope she would choose to embrace their respective sides regarding good and evil. Melissa knew shew was a witch, but knew nothing about her parent's history and I seriously doubt Dakota liked being a man anymore than Anastasia liked baking cookies unless it included sinister ingredients.

And I think you are missing the point of their separation. Light Melissa attends Artemis and Dark Melissa attends Charybdis at the same time. The reason Melissa is in trouble is she's been skipping school on alternate days because there is only one not two. Neither one of them want to fuse unless it's absolutely necessary.

I'm not the one who wrote it, but it sounds like something physical. Melissa was a witch in a coven worshiping Hecate , which is pretty far from normal. Judging from the previous link and Jacqui's description, Anastasia likes baking and there's nothing sinister about them.

And I think you are missing the point of their separation. Light Melissa attends Artemis and Dark Melissa attends Charybdis at the same time. The reason Melissa is in trouble is she's been skipping school on alternate days because there is only one not two. Neither one of them want to fuse unless it's absolutely necessary.

The point is not the separation or what she got caught doing, it's that Dark Melissa's plan requires her to pretend to be her other half half the time and attend Atremis Academy herself.
